FYI- when i say ipod, i mean ipod AND iphone...i've tried both..

I'm trying to get video from my ipod to the head unit..I have the ipod cable hooked up to the rear of the deck. Everything functions correctly, except when i go to video, then navigate to the video on my ipod and select one, the sound transfers to the deck but no video. I am even able to use the touch screen on the deck to switch between videos on the ipod, and use pause/play. Just no video.

I even tried playing youtube with my iphone - same thing, got sound but no video.

Any of you have this same issue? Or does yours work fine?

Do you have a yellow video cable off the iPod cable going into the head unit? I think that's an apple thing that video doesn't go over the iPod connector to USB, otherwise audio can pass across direct to USB and let the head unit pick it up.

i thought about trying to ipod cable that converts to AV, and plugging that into the back of the deck, but i dont want to spend $50 on the dang cable :(

I was going to see if there was a problem with my existing pioneer ipod cable instead of going a different route

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
That is just for sound not video. Like stated you need the yellow cord to connect to your video out as well...not just the red & white. I have this on my Eclipse AVN726E and it has video & music:

Well according to the head unit manual, video should play with this cable...

    "Playing video
This navigation system can play video if an iPod
with video capabilities is connected. However,
only the following touch keys can be used for
operation: ,  and . Use the iPod to
    operate other functions."

think you need the special cable for the Ipod. I have the avic f700 bt and somewhere in the manual it says you need all the cables for it to function correctly

I do have the cable that the manual says I need, and the music part of the ipod transfers fine, playlists, songs, albums, podcasts all works - just no video :(

I'm wondering if theres a problem with my cable, the head unit, or if the manual is wrong in that apple makes you buy their own crap..

I have a AVIC-D3 in my taco, I can only play videos w/ the 5th gen iPod, my 80GB, Classic can't play videos on the D3. I think it the same for the iPhone. Something about firmware on the ipod, you can go back to the one of the older firmware version from what i read. Check out www.avic411.com for more info.

I've read and searched for a long time to find out a lot of crap regarding newer Ipods from apple.

The AVIC currently does NOT have any cables out that supports any of the 6th generation Ipods, Touch, IPhones. I sucks and it will only play music but there will be "NO" Videos.

In order to play Videos from a 6th gen, you'll have to do some wack and time consuming steps. You'll need to play the Video currently on the Ipod, then plug it dirrectly into the AV cords from the back. This will play on the AV 1 or 2 you have set up.

I had to get rid of my 6th gen and purchased a 5th gen 80gb Video. It works great!

Check this forum out regarding the AVIC D-3 in all features. You'll find anything and everything you'll need to know.
