I wouldn't retube shit. I'd be going to a 9" instead if I was going to dick with the axle.

Yeah I'm going to swap to a tundra axle when mine goes. It's like 4 inches wider which will be perfect

If you are 5 lug (Off Road Sport) than its alright conaidering its the same 5lug pattern. If not youre gonna have to somehow convert either the front to 5 or rear to six. Those are real nice axles... especially if youre gonna drive it hard! Not sure how much ground clearance youre gonna lose but I would imagine at least a couple of inches so it would be good to run 37's or bigger. If I was going to go that extreme but to save on money i wouls scrap IFS and the rear and do front and rear 60's that are plenty strong. It all depends on how you drive it and what you wanna build it for

Only 5 lug tacos are the 2wd... Prerunner and 4x4 are all 6 lug. I would have the Tundra axle redrilled to be 6 lug. Also I've read lots of good things about the pinion placement on the Tundra axles. They're not that low hanging and goofy.

Are the 5 lug Tundra axles really 69" wide?

I could be wrong but I thought sport was all 5 lug and off road was 6 lug. Ive read some stuff on the Tundra rear end and it is sweet! Its limited on aftermarket parts and to me it seams pointles to have a crazy 10.5" rear, mid pinion (great clearance) and still run a 8" clamshell! I know some will disagree. .. but thats just me, unlses youre willing to dump lots of $$$ amd race your truck id leave it alone with the 8" front and 8"/8.4" stock rear. unless you are stuck on LT which i love as well! Its great.. but spending $6k on LT and still being limited on travel and dealing with the week axles binding or 8" being too small for big tires and heavy foot id prefer to spend another $2-3k and do front and rear 60's

All TRD's are 6 lug V6's (can be 2wd or 4wd). The X-runners are a 5 lug 2wd V6. Prerunners are 6 lug 2wd's (can be V6 or I4). The non-Prerunner 2wd's are 5 lug I4's. They are really low to the ground (running SUA) and are basically a car with a bed.

    68.something I believe. Don't quote me.
I would probably run the 9.5... Still plenty strong..

Good point but unfortunately its not 2-3k more for front and rear 60s plus you can't part out and go back to stock ;)

I'm not haha... I have accepted it. The bedsides are gone. Basically that was futile cover up argument to hide the fact that I'm not skilled enough to SAS and link my truck quite yet

Chop your rear axle, make it narrower, then make it wider in a few months. Then back to stock width. Then back to wider. Just cuz you can and it is an option.

I keep hoping I'll win the lottery so I can give the Taco to DTF or Solo or someone and be like "do this to it". Haha.

Otherwise it'll be many years down the road. I need ro graduate still, find a job, buy a house, etc etc...

Meh. I graduated and found a job and bought a house and it's not so great. Houses don't go fast or go over gnarly terrain. 4/10, do not completely regret but would not recommend to a friend.

Yeah. But I need the house because it's a little better investment than pissing rent money away and it would be nice to have a place to work on my rig more and maybe I'll learn to weld and attempt to fab my own shit. Plus I need a house so I can get a dog:D and it'll keep the wife happier too:)

Rent a house with a shop and a yard. Ask anyone who sold a house in 2008 if they think it's a good investment. Plus it's like being on never ending extra duty. Shits always broke, and there is no landlord to call. When you get to a point in life when you say "I want to live here forever!" then think about buying, but realize you will be stuck there for a long time, even if the god damn neighbor kids play basketball until 2AM and the dude across the street has drunk bikers over all the time that think harley engines idle at 4000 rpm and the other neighbor puts shitty diapers in your trashcan because theirs is overfull. Hey, you wanna buy my house? :D
