Thoughts on 37s

Trepidors look awesome. I wish their radials were as cool

 

How do you like your 4.56s? And what about your All Pro leafs? I'm torn between a custom Chevy 63 setup in the rear or just buying a new leaf pack from All Pro.

 

After blowing the diff just pulling out of my street I feel that it would be wiser to upgrade axles before sizing up the tires.

 

Yikes... Sorry to hear about that. I went with 37s because I've wanted them for a long time. I've done a lot of research and am prepared to do all the necessary modifications/cutting. I know that if I got 35s I'd kick myself for not going bigger.

On a side note, I've been a long time lurker/fan of your grills. You are extremely talented. That being said, you should make cut-out flares for tacomas I'd definitely be first in line to buy a set. They'd sell like hotcakes guaranteed.

14bolt rear is my next mod for this truck. That should fix that shit quick fast and in a hurry. I know with an elocker rear, crawl box and 37s that rear diff is a ticking time bomb

Keeping it the way it is with 35's.
I like the Dynatrac rear upgrade but for the cost it's simply not worth it. If I size up the tires it will be because I did a solid axle swap & that's not in the cards right now either.

 

Judging by the work I've seen you do here on tacomaworld, you could put bushwacker out of business lol. It's a niche market sure, but if you build it the Toyota community will buy it

It's a matter of getting them made to the size I created for my truck. Molds & forming... Manufacturing things that I do not have the space for.
It's a neat idea & I've tossed it around quite a bit but it's not going to happen without collaborating with another organization.

 

Contrary to popular belief, I am not much of a mechanic... Most of what I do know was gleaned from these very forum pages. I do not know how to weld metal nor do I have the garage space needed to take on such a project.

Me either. Granted I have Eddy as a knowledge base. But I didn't have the space I needed, so I rented a storage unit. I'd never laid a bead until I bought my Hobart 140 a few months ago. I understand the possition really. I'm just saying there's as many can's out there as can'ts. Soon I'll have a whole new frame built under a POS truck in a tiny storage unit with 1 light bulb. It can be done.

I will say I don't think tire size is gonna make a decisive difference in how long the rearend lasts. In fact I can argue that a larger tire is easier on the rear end because you have to work the truck less to make it over the same obsticles.

I understand fully not doing. Just offering a word of encouragement if your reasoning is that YOU can't do it.

 

If it ever beomes a dedicated trail rig I may be singing a different tune. Pa has pretty strict inspection laws that prevent doing some stuff...

 

Makes sense. SC has no inspection laws, which is awesome and makes a lot of stuff possible

 

With the tires sticking out so far did you need to cut the inner fenders?
