Thoughts on air filters

Does anyone use a K&N or TRD type air filter,if so whats your opinion.

I have the k&n and have noticed about 1 mpg better over the stock paper element, so in the long run it will pay for itself. I would say its also the most popular drop in filter out there. Bottom line get the k&n, i also run one in my bike, just my 2 cents welcome to TW !!

swapped my K&N for an aFe Pro Dry S last week. So glad I did!

The dust from my dirt road was gunking up the oiled filter big time. Cleaned every month wasnt enough..

Same here, I'm about to toss my K&N airfilter and go back with paper..

 

I put a K&N filter on my 1997 tacoma, it fucked up 2 MAF sensors, I even tried to oil the filter very very lightly, still made a mess. I will never put one on my 2011 Tacoma or anything else I own for that matter, and as a few others have said it has been proven that they dont filter well at all.

 

I have the K&N cold air and it's worked just fine so far, I get a little punchier on the gas but can't really attribute it to just the CAI, as I put on a new exhuast and an "expensive whistle" throttle body spacer at the same time... had all of it for a year now and so far no issues. and I live in a pretty dusty area.

 

Yeah I've realized by now from countless threads that the tbs pretty much does nothing special, but eh. it was 90 bucks. and now my truck has a cool rape whistle!

and warmer air, perhaps since it's more open to the engine bay... but I haven't had any negative results.

aaannnnd yes. I've always used fram in all my vehicles, just something my dad always used when he taught to change the oil growing up and I guess It's one of those things that stuck. I've never thought to research "good" oil filters, so honestly what one do you recommend? just curious now

 

plus on the fram I like the grip to take it off, sure it's a cheescake reason but I changed the oil for one of my friends and without the grip that thing was bitch to get off! had to use a filter wrench and then finally some channel locks
