Some will say go with no cap some will say a cap is a must. First decide if a cap is useful or not. I have always had a cap and it is the first thing i order when I get my new truck . I went with the lower end ARE just like all the other ones I had.20170319_101305.jpg

I didn't know that TAG had bought Snugtop, interesting. This release says that snugtop will continue to operate as its own standalone, which probably means their prices will stay a little higher: https://www.ntea.com/NTEA/Member_be...s/SNUGTOPacquiredbyTruckAccessoriesGroup.aspx

Its the same with bicycles. Giant makes most of the frames for Trek and Specialized and then they just slap their logo on it but Giant is usually cheaper.

Reply to Jason: I had the top installed at 'topper town' in Coco Florida. Great shop. While it was being installed the mechanic suggested that I install the remote locking mechanism in the tailgate. He showed me how easy it was to steal the gate. He installed the lock in 20 minutes, cost $120. It operates right off of the Orem key fob! Fantastic.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Yes, basically those few times where something won't fit. I have a trailer for those. And technically I could do the redneck hot tub, and it would double as a sauna too with the cap :D

Looks to me like everyone's ARE's fit great. My Snugtop overhangs the back end a little bit

I have a Snugtop Rebel with sliding fold down front window, yakima roof rack factory installed, and prolock (single handle middle glass lock). I have had it for just under a year; it looks great, fits great, and doesn't leak. BUT i am having issues with the rear window and lock mechanism and it makes me so mad! I have been back to the dealer twice already to have them fix the issue, but shortly after, they become out of sync again, and the door becomes harder and harder to close. One side usually wont snap into place all the way, and forces me to have to really close the glass door hard. That has now caused hairline cracking of the paint on the bottom corner of the shell because of the repeated slamming of the glass door. The lock also just sometimes doesn't work, i have to lock it 4-5 times before its actually locked. I am going back to the dealer soon, for the third time to have them send it back to Snugtop for warranty repairs. I hope there is a lemon law on these things or something, because i fucking hate my top and want a different one.

I have done quite a bit of off roading in my truck, and im sure that doesnt help, but i feel like these things should be able to handle the bumps and rough terrain better than this! i even re-tighten the mounting bolts after long trail days, but the thing is relentless in being a huge pain in my ass.

A lil this a lil that.
Not sure if you've made a decision, but I'd recommend getting wind doors (side doors that open up) they may life a whole lot easier.

dfelz bummer...hope our new one does not have those issues. We got the keyless entry pro lock ordered with ours. Sounds like the canopy is not on the truck straight to me...like one side has to close farther than the other due to it probably hitting the truck before it latches?

I have a 2016 double cab, OR Taco-with a Leer XR with Thule Aerobars and cargo net. Mounted to truck in Nov 2016. Very happy overall, but I had some issues with water incursion in the first month-which the dealer helped resolve (some gaps in the front of the truck bed were allowing water in while driving) and now I've got a small leak in the starboard side window. Tiny, but it's there. I also have two gaps at the tailgate (bottom corners where window meets the gate top) which have allowed water in during driving rains. I figure I can caulk the window if I find the point of entry-or drive 2 hours to the dealer and have them do it.

As stated above-all in all, the utility of the top has been phenomenal and I'm 99% happy with it. People have commented that the color match (inferno orange) is perfect. I like the look of the truck with cap as well. The little leaks at the tailgate might be impossible to solve, as there's just a gap there. Of course if anyone has advice-I'd be sure to listen.
