I actually REALLY like what Btnewman did above with the square tube.

    Sure looks like it.

Just a few thoughts, the plates that you have drawn in that go along the frame rails, they will probably have to be cut and notched around the shock mounts.

And you might think about using a little bit heavier material as backing for the reciever tube, if you are pulling a trailer or have any kind of load on the hitch, You might get a lot of flex on that reciever.

And yeah, those bumpers were all mig welded.

Yep i was expecting to have to redo the mounts i knew that.

what if i braced the receiver tube like you did? think that would be sufficient.

Bracing them with some tube would be way stronger! Over all. I really like your design!

Very nice, that should be pretty strong. I would still move the recovery points but it should be fine like that.

That looks way better! How thick of metal are you going with? And on the recovery points, the closer to the framerail, the better, but if you are going with a thicker plate for the bumper, you will be ok if you either have it close to some egdes, or brace the back side of the mounts inside the bumper.
And make sure you find a way to weld the outside edges, as well as some weld inside. Either cutting a small slot directly under the tab and weld through to the tab. Or have a tab that goes all the way through a cutout in the bumper.

have not really decided on a thickness 3/16th seems to be a common size from my research.
