Considering purchasing this 01 TRD. Seller sent me pics of undercarriage— thoughts on the rust? More than you would bite for?

Looks pretty good on the outside. He may or may not have done this intentionally but there are no images of the inside of the frame rails. that is where you find the worst rust.

For an 01 that's pretty pristine. Looks like below average wear and tear for a 20 year old car. I would hop all over that. But definitely crawl under there and look at the spaces that aren't pictured. LCAs, UCAs, engine cab mounts, etc.

Axle housing looks great, still has a gas tank skid plate, threads on cab mount and crossmember bolts look clean…what are you waiting for?

Looks great, I cant tell but it looks like the right front sway bar link is broken.

The rear springs are inverted as well, worn.

Not deal breakers by any stretch.

Looks like it has new tires and suspension.

There was a spare tire carrier recall, it might still be valid for that truck.

This looks pretty clean for an 01. Is it located outside the rust belt?

Rear leafs look flat to me, but not inverted…could be serviceable, but we need more pictures. Agreed about the sway bar link.

That's clean dude. The gas tank skid is the first to rust out usually and even that doesn't look bad.

I agree, it doesn't look too bad at all. I had my frame replaced recently on my 09 and it was absolutely rotten even without taking a closer look.

Thanks folks-- I appreciate all of the input. I'm asking because I would be buying this from out of state and probably can't see it in person.. I've been grilling the seller who has been really transparent and sending all the photos/documentation requested. It's not in the rust belt and was mostly a CA truck aside from 20-30k miles in ID at the beginning of its life.

wire brush on a grinder, a couple cans of black primer, one case of beer and a long weekend and you’re good.

The scar on my forehead says an angle grinder with a knotted cup brush can be dangerous even when you're cold sober. Use the accessory handle at all times and consider wearing a face shield, respirator, and hearing protection (not fun in hot weather). Save the beer for a job well done.

    Stock. EZ pass.Dump pass.Inspection sticker.Convict printed lic.plates.FG cap.
Buy a gallon of Coroseal and an undercoating gun with 360° wand extension from Amazon and spray the inside of box frame members.
Use the coroseal on the outside of frame before paint.
Coroseal works best if rust is left on surface being treated so there's no need to take it down to shiny steel.
Just knock off the big chunks if any.
    I use a needle gun.

I don't see a fist sized hole in the frame so I think this is fine
