    So I’m going to start by saying I know spacer and blocks aren’t ideal, that’s a given. It was my original intent to do a full suspension system to achieve my 3” lift but situations have risen that I need to wait.

    That being said, I still want to get a little more clearance while I wait. I wanted to ask you guys about just doing a 2.25” pro comp spacer in the front and toytech 1” block in the rear. I do trails once in a while but I know the limitations of that kind of lift so in no way would be doing rock climbing, just simple out and back camping trips.

    Run it, in the end you might decide that’s all you need and save all that money.

    I had Kings on my truck up until a few months ago when I took them off to rebuild, replaced them with stock suspension and a block lift.

    Still running the block haha, might not be as smooth and nice riding but it does fine.

    Well pro comp was just the spacer I found that was 2.25”. The rest are usually like 3” and I don’t want to save money with a spacer kit and have to get ucas. Is there really no quality difference between brands?

    Well my delay will probably be around a year or so. I don’t mind paying the 150 or so for install in the mean time.

    Well with the 5100’s the most lift I can get with stock coils is about 1.55” and rear 5100’s won’t add any lift without leafs. To get what I’m aiming for with spacers with 5100’s I’d have to add ome coils and a leaf spring pack and that would bring it up to around 700 cost.

    $250 with alignment? Your money :notsure: Mind you it's just 4 tanks of gas... I've spent more in 20 minutes at a shooting range.

    I need to get an alignment done right now regardless of if I do a lift or not. During service the tech said it was off a bit. I was just going to find a groupon deal around me to get it done.

    Yes. Because unless you space out your bump stops, your shock is now going to bottom out before bumps.

    And if you do limit uptravel, well, then you don’t have much travel left at all. Perfect for fire roads though like you pictured.

    Looks like you made up your mind already. :)

    The worst that can happen is the front shock buckling when you take uneven terrain too agressively. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/broken-shock.481379/#post-14683909 Not a big deal if you expect to replace the front shock eventually, but will leave you stranded.

    Did you see what I said on why it’s caused? When you bottom out suspension, you bottom out shocks instead of hitting bump stops. It 100% can happen to first gens too.

    I’m in the “wait” crowd. Maybe upsize your tires to get some of it out of your system. If you are camping in a legitimate site your OR will get there stock, spacers won’t give you any new clearance.

    Once you have saved the $ you can improve the performance with the kind of lift you wanted in the first place and you won’t have messed around with the one you didn’t. Once you start the jobs not done and some have spent more chasing vibrations and broken suspension with a “cheap” kit than they ever expected.

    I waited 15 years to save the money because of “life”.
