So I picked up one of the Eittar (9Drive style) controllers and it seems to work pretty good. I started around P1.7 and then P2.3 and the P2 is a little too jumpy for me (maybe until I get used to the more responsive throttle I'll try P2 again) so I went back to P1.8 for now. I can't even imagine what P3 is like. I'm so used to the throttle lag that it will take a little getting used to the change. Backing into the driveway was interesting so I might go back down a little. Luckily, I have time before we get to boating season so I should be able to get used to the changes before towing the boat.

Update: After driving around a little, I'm running it at P1.4 for now. It seems to be a nice compromise between throttle response but not too much throttle for driving 20-25 mph roads.

I installed the Eitter on my truck today. It was 85 bucks on Ebay. Dang , it woke my truck up. I started in sport mode but had to go back to P1 , #6 , the comfortable mode. In Sport mode it was crazy. I have a manual, so you have to re - learn the friction point on your clutch to keep from being too jerky. You definitely have to be easy on the throttle. I will try it out again tomorrow to see if i can find where im happiest with it. My truck is an 07 , so i also put an intermittent wipers switch in it. Took about 20 minutes to do each . Hardest part is undoing the electrical connection at the accelerator.

Congrats Danny, seems you've had a pretty good week, you too Jeff. It's really amazing how hard it is to find neg. comments from anyone that's tried a throttle controller. Also hard to imagine, as well as they seem to work, how many folks have never heard of them

Thx , i wasn't really expecting that much from it , but i was really surprised at how the response time was immediate. I couldn't imagine what race mode would do , but im going to find out tomorrow. Run around some of the back roads and try it out.

I put this on my 13 tacoma, it's 4cyl auto. It made a big difference, economy mode makes my cruise work better on the freeway, doesn't down shift on big hills as much. 1st mode is about all I need, next one is pretty touchy, sport mode is insane for my 4cyl. I have a header, cold air intake, an it ran really good, I thought. This is the best $71 dollar add-on ever. I took my gas pedal off too hook it up, 2 bolts made it easier for me.

I have a feeling the 4 cyl trucks can benefit more from this than the V6 trucks. My prior V8 Silverado with drive by wire did not feel like it needed anything to help with the throttle response but my Tacoma with the 2.7 has an obvious lag to it.

I just put one on my manual. With a sensitive pedal , first gear takes some time getting used to , but you'll figure it out.

Does anyone know what kind of impact this has on the longevity of the engine or drivetrain? I have a `21 2.7 DCSB, which weighs 4,000 lbs. Without any kind of throttle mod, it accelerates nice and slow (nice from the engine and drivetrain's perspective but not the driver's). Throttle mods convince the little 4 banger to push all 4,000 lbs of truck harder and faster, which puts more of a strain on the pistons and the differential and everything in between. If something in there isn't designed for that amount of strain, then it's going to wear out more quickly. That's the train of thought that I go through when I consider getting a Pedal Commander or something. Can anyone shed some light on that?

i agree you have to have more engine mods in regards to this if not a throttle response system will not work as efficiently

One and a half years using the Sprint Booster, I installed as the manual stated - off twenty minutes and the remote was in the house. I have fooled around with it a lot over the eighteen months that I have had it. I have not regretted the money at all. I turn it off in in ice and snow or when in a field using 4-Lo or Hi.
Fro those who give us charts and advise pushing harder on the throttle: Buy one, use it or shut up. Don't put ignorance on display for all to see.

Not sure if you're referring to my post here, but just in case, I'm not trying to give advice. I'm seeking input. I'd really like to get one because my truck is so sluggish, but I'm wondering if that extra strain will decrease the longevity of the engine or drivetrain. I'm hoping someone can point me to something that addresses that question.

The controllers won't give the eng. any more fuel nor power, it just gives it quicker. It does feel like more power even tho it ain't. I really don't see any extra power (pressure) put on any of the eng. or drivetrain components. If you want more pressure to the drivetrain, shift your transfer case to LO, that will at the least double the pressure on everything in the drivetrain. Eng mods or retunes actually do add more fuel & power to everything but I don't see the controllers doing it. I think JGO was referring to those that don't like the throttle controllers but have never tried them. Hey, if you decide to try one, be sure to keep us updated. Good luck

The strain isn't really any different than you pushing the gas pedal harder to open the throttle body more. The throttle controllers just eliminate that lag when you first start pushing the gas pedal and nothing happens, then you can fine tune the amount it opens the throttle at lower pedal settings. You're not making more power or creating added strain, you're adjusting the computer reaction to pushing the pedal and feeding the engine. I like the changes to my truck but if you're used to the slow response it will take some time to adjust to it (and that's a good thing).

I was not referring to you. I have seen no article or post concerning increased strain on the auto. They could be out there, I am just unaware of any.

I settled in on P 2.3 setting on mine. It feels like a good compromise between throttle response and being to twitchy.
