No. Just a voltage meter but no way to check without rigging up between the connector and the sensor

I thought you meant something more sophisticated. Yes I have one. Have only used it to read codes when I had a Ford 6.0 diesel. It set a lot of codes.

Read the live data for the throttle position sensor or TPS

Gasman and mechicjon - i went to parts geek from mechicjon's link and found the TPS, your TPS PN(like mine)is 89452-35030(below). i notice under the AISAN stamp yours has "7B23" mine has "2H06" does this mean anything as far as application? According to Part geeks the asian PN is W0133-2744128. Did you order that and what you got is what you are showing a pic of? Why does your box show 89452-35030 and Parts geek list it as W0133-2744128? am i missing something? I did notice it does have the 4 pins though. oh and hope this testing procedure works for someone(its under the TPS pic labled "OVI TPS TESTING,PDF FILE).

I am going to guess that the W0133 number is the number Parts Geeks assigned for their inventory system. That is the same one I ordered. I will be installing mine sometime this weekend and will get a better look at the new part vs the old part. Had a bit of difficulty getting the bottom screw out tonight. I will certainly be replacing with an allen head. As for the 2H06 vs 7B23, I will go out on a limb and guess that this identifies the production run when Aisin made the part.

I think you are right. Genuine injectors use numbers like those to identify testing lot numbers. If they don't have the number, some number of injectors in the lot failed and the entire lot was scrapped or they are counterfeit and untested.

Ok, thanks for verifying and that does make sense too, about the lot # and cs_ar mentioned it as well. I’ll take a chance and order one too. Mine is starting to get funny again. Was your delivery a quik one? I never ordered from parts geek before. I just recently had to order a motherboard for my desktop CP from Newegg.com,,, it took a month to get it

I ordered and selected the lowest cost shipping. They said up to 9 days. I got it the next day. Apparently it shipped out of Anaheim CA and I only live 60 miles from Anaheim.

Side note: Here's an Aisan injector with the testing lot number below.

    AAAC_00_Real_c229c1c2c30851f2504efe10bef2d36faea27819.jpg

This injector has a good testing lot number.

    IJ_01_Good_Testing_1fa39a980b208b1c759f64b2da29ad36a4eb8e06.jpg

The injector without the lot number is counterfeit or the lot failed to test and was scrapped.

Beware of any Aisan labeled parts without the lot number.

I'd like to add to #toyinhawaii's post.

On section 3 of the FSM doc he supplied here is the resistance you'd ideally like to see on your new installed TPS.
I haven't been able to find the post from many years ago detailing the calibration technique for installing the new TPS. But if I recall there is a relationship between the APPS resistance and the clockment of the TPS.
What'd I'd do is measure resistance on the pins specified in section 4. And write that number down. When the new TPS is installed see if clocking the TPS changes the readings on the APPS. If it does try to get the resistance as it was with the old TPS installed. Then go back and see if the TPS resistance is within spec of the FSM.

This the one? Lots of reading and the good stuff is buried deep. Sure would be helpful if Toyota had a spec for idle throttle plate angle like they do for the non ETC t-bodies.

WOW! i only got to post#23 before i needed to stop for a while but seems that APPS is in need of some adjustment. Amazing that people found there was a problem only a couple years after production. i got my '03 back in 2009 with 103,000 miles, got it for $5K(head gasket blown, white smoke), i repaired it and @ 215,000 miles still runs good, but, ever since i repaired it, i always had this just noticeable rough idle, couldn't pin point it and always thought it might have been a burnt fuel injector on the #5 cylinder (where the H.G. blew), but now i guess it turning out to be the TPS/ APPS. as i previously mentioned once before, i slightly adjusted the TPS and the rough idle went away(momentarily). Theres a lot of info i gathered so far and the post go up to #282. its got me so interested in reading that i dont want to fast forward to see what the out come is, what a novel! but then again, i wont get my feelings hurt if someone wants to jump in and give a spolier alert. Oh, saw that there was 24 TPS's left on Parts Geek and thinking that might cure my problem, i ordered 2, (i know, greedy, huh! LOL). but with this new APPS info IDK now. And the story continues!

I don't know how you do Dirtypool. Do you just lurk around waiting to pull out a long forgotten informative forum post out of your indexed archives? Haha.

That very well may be it, I've only gotten to page four. But it's suiting up to be a great read. Thank you sir!

Hey GasmanScott. Did you get it installed yet??? I’ve been eagerly awaiting a follow up.

Installed and runs fine. I read all of the posts of how to set measuring voltage etc. I went the less sophisticated route and measured rpm with my scan tool with the engine fully warmed up and no a/c, lights etc creating a load. I then replaced and clocked the position to match the measured rpms.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Yep, this is the exact one I got too. Installed it and no more throttle hesitation to speak of! Much better than $800 for a new TB!
