Today I pulled my throttle body off to clean it and also to replace my throttle position sensor..
After reinstalling everything and taking a short drive it’s idling at 1,600 rpm.
Does anyone know why this would happen?
    Any help is appreciated!!

Sounds like an issue with the IAC valve... did you remove it to clean?

Not sure about OP’s truck, but the TPS on my ‘01 was plug and play, no adjustment

Any fiddling with MAF sensor while doing other work? Sure any all cleaning debris (piece of cloth from shop rag or corner or paper towel) isn’t wedged in butterfly?

I did remove the IAC, but I didn’t want to damage the MAF so I didn’t get the intake cleaner down in that slot

    Possible...
I put a clean shop rag over a flathead screwdriver to scrape out the build up down there.

I’m going to disassemble everything tomorrow and check for debris and clean a bit more.

    Will update

I’ve driven it about 60 miles in the last 24 hours
It’s still idling at around 1,600
The check engine light came on around 50 miles or driving.

I read someone mention adjusting the throttle stop screw..
How is this done, and is it helpful?

IAC and MAF are nowhere near each other... IAC is idle air control and is a part of the throttle body. MAF is mass air flow and is in the intake tube near the air filter.

I pulled everything apart again today, cleaned things more thoroughly, reassembled, same problem..
In fact after reinstalling everything, I cranked it up and it was running very rough. I drove for approximately 10 miles then it ran much more smoothly.
Still idles WAY too high though. 1,600-1,800

I took this ^ pic of my throttle body. Should you be able to see that much light Around that throttle plate??
The throttle plate is closed but if I push on it a little bit it closes that gap a bit..
is that normal? Or does it need to be adjusted? 51159034-765D-4561-9F22-E8ABE1F08CD3.jpg
In the 2nd pic my right hand is pushing the bottom of the throttle plate from the back closing the gap.
