Get ur self some emery cloth so that u can use that to smooth down the aluminum shaft, ur gonna want to do it enough so that it takes minimum effort to slide the new steel shaft over the aluminum shaft. Get some RED thread lock and put it on the set screws and then tighten them bitches down nice and tight but don't brake anything. Now use the supplied grease and put some on the shaft and put some onto the new TO bearing and slide it down onto the shaft. Don't put too much grease on there cause u don't want to have it sling all over the clutch disc, that will cause major issues. Also make sure to clean off any old grease from the clutch fork from where it pivots, just make sure u clean out any old grease and replace it with the supplied grease.
From there it's just the reverse order and put everything back together.

So i have 52460 miles on my yoto and getting the same problem. I took it to the dealer for service and said i'm like them to check the issue of the chirping. So the tech at toyota steps on the clutch after i said i believe its the throw out bearing and then they charge me 50 dollars for confirming and saying its not under warrenty cause of it being a wear and tear item:mad::mad:!!!!! I'm pissed I call toyota customer relation and have to talk to the service manager can anyone help with letting me know what to do. I'm so pissed and don't want to get pushed around by these guys the truck is only 2 years old.

I had this exact issue on my 96 Tacoma 5 speed, after the dealer changing the bearing 6 times I got sick of bringing it back.
470,000 kms later it still chirped (some days louder then others) I just got used to it.
Glad to see Toyota learned there lesson on the 05+ trucks.

I also found it ironic that I had to bring my 08 in for the leaf spring TSB, as I also brought my 96 in for the exact same fix, which was also a TSB!

They are full of shit. It says on the TSB that this is covered under powertrain warranty.

Well, looks like I will not be getting a 6 speed in my new truck when I get home. Not unless they figure out the issue for good or fix the issue in the 2012 trucks.

Well, I am finally getting my throwout bearing replaced after 3 trips to the dealership over the last year or so. Is this a "new and improved" part or just a replacement?

I drove my tacoma on a chirp for about 30,000 miles.
Finally I installed the pdm kit and a stage 3 competition clutch and ended up with a clutch shreak that eventually went away after about a years time and repeated burning of the clutch. About a week after install my PDM T O bearing it started a constant growl rather than a chirp. I ordered the rest of the parts shown in the tsb (fork support and release cylinder) so eventually (probably not until the sound gets worse) i will install them and put more grease on my T O bearing, maybe it will be fixed then after another full day underneath my truck. What a pain in the @$$. I'll be cussing the whole time.

So this PDM kit is a sleeve that steel sleave that slides over the alluminum shaft on your bellhousing? what secures it? has anyone found this to be a good sure fix to the stock issues people are having? Im not having TOB issues yet, but reading up on potential fixes should the need arise.

    P. Bauer, Ive been having the same issue for over a year and a half now. I too have had my TO bearing replaced 4 times. After the 4th time they pointed the finger at me and blamed it on aggressive driving/abuse. Recently, a friend of mine who is a tech for toyota told me they released an improved TO bearing and master cyclinder. Have you had any luck fixing this issue?

My 6 week old with 1400 miles on it Tacoma started making the chirping noise yesterday and got really bad today. The check engine light came on as I was passing a toyota dealer so I stopped in.

They told me they could check it on monday so I left it with them. A short while ago I got a voice mail from them saying the release bearing was bad and would take 2-3 days to repair.

I'll call them on monday and let them go ahead. Good thing there is a TSB out for this... even so I'm guessing with only 1400 miles on it then warranty would cover it as well.

The only thing I've found strange was the check engine light coming on. I haven't seen anyone else post saying their light came on. I wonder if its totally unrelated.

    What do you guys think?

Check engine light has to be unrelated to the clutch. There are no sensors on the transmission for the computer to monitor.

i have a 2007 6-speed with the chirping (63k miles), unless the clutch is depressed. looks like i'll be purchasing the TSK45

    - any ideas on the time it takes to do the replacement?

i'm fairly sure i won't be doing this myself and will need to bring it to a mechanic. just kind of looking for an idea on the total cost this replacement will be.
