Stop me if you've heard this one.

I have a 6-speed manual transmission and the throwout bearing chirps like a mofo. I don't need a new clutch, but the sound is driving me up a wall.

I was thinking of doing the throwout bearing, but only if I can find an upgrade kit with the steel sleeve included.

I've seen several, but none of them seem to be for the 3rd gen Tacomas. Has anyone upgraded their throwout bearing, and if so, what kit did you use?

These seem to be popping up, unfortunately. I am not sure what the steel sleeve is that you mentioned, but the 3rd Gen TOB setup is very different than the 2nd Gens.

    There is this:

I really want to give it a shot but am not wanting to pull the trans, again.

As a stop gap, I pulled the slave spring and have wonderful silence:

IMHO after seeing the amount of throw and load that spring puts on the TOB, I am feeling that it may be the root cause.

Isn't that for a 2nd gen though? I keep contacting all these companies with upgrade kits and it seems there's no compatibility with 3rd gens.

Check the thread. It is for both.

I was excited about the ClutchMasters 3rd Gen TOB, but the installation is more involved and it was noted that the bearing is not as good.

    You're welcome!

It is all good! I was surprised that it fits both.
