So I recently ordered the Thule Tracrac One racks for my 17’ Tacoma. I was told you need a special mounting kit for Tacomas. They sent me the Thule Xsporter XK4 adaptor but I don’t think that is right. I’m not sure this is the right kit. I thought it was supposed to be Thule #41501.

    Anyone have any info?

XK4 is the correct one. XK4B if you have the black rack. $60. 41501 will work too. I think that's the older version, but has the toolbox mount.

I cut the legs of mine by almost 4 inches to just barely clear the fin antenna, and tapped the threads. I found them too tall as is.

Thanks! I don’t mind the height since I’ll be putting four kayaks up there.

I do find it strange tightening the bolts to the rail. I want to tighten it more but I also don’t want to crush the rail!

Be cautious if you're going to torque to specs. I was afraid of crushing the rail too, but apparently, you'll bend the clamps first before hurting the rail. Learned the hard way and bent the first 2 clamps I installed.

Ok very good to know TY. I used the rail loop/clamp to space out the mounts. I torqued the rack itself to 33lbs while assembling it, but I did not see anything on how much to torque the mounts.

A little bit shorter vertical bars would be nice. My box didn’t come with the 4 rubber shims.

Hey now I’m curious.. How did you tap the threads? They are located on the bottom of the rail so if you cut it they would no longer be there. Did you tap into the side of it?

Oh I didn’t realize it runs the entire length of the bar! Retapping will be easy! Definitely going to cut them down a couple inches now. Thank you!!
