    Does this stop your ticks at idle or higher rpms?

    Dealer told me the injectors, valves are just loud on a tacoma :(

    Tickiing is notably louder under the hood on the Driver side ?

    Man honda makes quite little car....but can't haul my 5k trailer !!

    I have noticed my tick is louder now that I have added the TRD CAI. I did the install myself and I feel like I got it right. The way I am thinking, with the old filter housing off, the valves are exposed fully thus being louder. Does seem to make sense? Can't really remeber if it was that loud. I am really listening now due to the sound of the CAI and me wanting to hear that. Installing a CAI couldn't mess anything up right?

    Yes, louder everything when you put in the CIA...removes all the toyota engineering to quite the loud engine noises...:)

    I think I am going to do the Chris thing and then take it in to Toyota and put my truck side by side with a new one and see...........Mine just sounds like a diesel...lol

    tried it and I didn't notice anything different. I could tell from the get go that the loudest ticking wasn't coming from there. It was worth a shot though. Thanks anyway

    you could take a piece of pipe or something to the like and touch various parts of the motor and hold the object to your ear...Been used by excellent shade tree mech around the world!

    I am thinking of wrapping my motor with dynamax to make it much quieter :)

    I feel the tick is louder on the drivers side becuse the stock air box covers the valves on the passenger side. When I installed my CAI, I could hear the tick more.

    Just curious if anyone had any updates or thoughts on the mod. Thinking about doing it today to reduce what little ticking I have. Its interesting that it seems to work well for some, and no difference for others.

    Decided to give her a go. Did it exactly as posted...2 rubber washers on each side, etc. Completely removed the ticking-clicking sound inside the cabin for me! Money. Like a jackass I didnt film before and after though. If I get bored enough later Ill remove and reinstall with some vid-audio. Very satisfied...significant difference for me. Thanks for posting this up!

    I thinking.....it is a design issue. the thing is held tight on one side and the other with a leg out against the vibrating/ticking/rattling motor, which makes some tick against the leg end.

    I guess as long as we have no long term issues(like out of warranty) then I am semi ok with the ticking...

    I think I am going to go by the toyatostealer and listen to a new one...make sure mine is no louder then most of yours.

    did mine last night, unfortunately no change or reduction. i need to have my manifolds checked out, sometimes it is REALLY loud. drive thru's own me :eek:

    I have the same problem as johnny, I even zip tied mine mine and its still loud, I think its my manifolds or valves. idk, but I am going to be getting headers eventually and am hopething that will make it sound better. does anyone know if there is a replacement valve you can buy that would tick less?

    yea...right when the rubber washers started to "squish" i stopped. but it seems like a heavy/thick ticking from the passenger side...if that makes any sense. ...
