2012 4WD V6; have the original oe battery that is getting long in the tooth and we've been battling below zero weather w/ no end in sight

No complaints really with the oe battery, but am guessing there are better ones

    Thanks!

As far as lead acid batteries go, I doubt you could find a better battery than what Toyota installed at the factory.

I don't have any complaints with the oe one, BUT if I could get one with more CCA's AND maintenance free it wouldn't hurt my feelings any (probably my wallet though) :)

Oh you definitely can do way better. I was surprised how low of quality battery Toyota put in.

NorthStar. See the above thread. Pricey but more CCAs, stupid level of CAs, AGM maintenance free and made in the USA.

I've had the D34 for 9 years and it is still going.
The D27 has a lot more reserve capacity and CCA's. It fits in our trucks. It's about $290.

You might have bought one of the last ones right before optima went down hill, closed the US plant, moved all production to Mexico and quality tanked. Their batteries no longer last and are not what they once were.

well I called batteries plus on the Northstar, but also chatted with them about their Duracell oem replacement, they list 710 CCA on their website, but the guy I spoke to said it was 840 CCA- he went actually looked at the battery they had and it said 840 right on it, so for a $111 (with a 20% off coupon) I grabbed it :)

All the usual diesel truck mods- fuel system upgrade, programmer, CAI, intake manifold, j hooked waste gate
I’m one of them too then. I’ve got two yellow tops in my dodge and they’re from April of 2006. Still as strong as ever!

I've always gotten a long service live from whatever was installed at the factory.

The Trustart's have been a different story for me. They did not leak, but several died in their early teens. It's unlikely I'll ever buy another.

My 15 OEM battery already died, so have a few other 15 trucks. Pretty disappointing quality to say the least. I was really surprised.

I just learned that CostCo carries Interstate brand batteries at serious discount compared to parts stores or even battery outlet stores.

In my neck of the woods - WMs 24F MaxxStart is around $130.00 - approx. - you did well.
