    after all it was the most priciest of maintenance items at the time until the tires and exhaust came due

    To OP though really, I'd change it. If you have any mechanical skills and access to a decent set of tools (the specialty tools are not needed) it's sooo easy on a RWD set up.

    I will say if you have 8 fusions you prob. are going to have a hard time bending over far enough.

    @jbrandt , yep, I've got quite the collection of Titanium going on, and unfortunately, I'm facing one more surgery after the first of the year, to try and fix one of the failed fusions. Not looking forward to it, since I'll be unable to do much of anything other than walk for exercise for at least 9 months to a year. All of my projets on the truck are now on hold until late 2020 or early 2021. I might have to pay someone to do a few things, that I feel need to be done.

    @Timmah! , yes it was a steal. About 500 dollars for parts and labor. I've been trying to get ahold of him for some more work, but he's been avoiding me.:confused:

    He's a mechanic with the local school system here, where I used to work, and he doesn't live to far from me either. But I'm hard headed, and will keep trying to get in touch with him.

    I'm coming up on needing to do this too...wife and I have a baby coming next month so I might just take it to a shop even though I was hoping to tackle it myself. Called a few places and the lowest estimate for a timing belt job I've gotten so far here in SoCal has been $850. Not surprising given how expensive shops are out here.

    Gonna watch Timmahs video on it a few more times and see if I can muster up the motivation to do it myself.

    Honda V6 Timing Belt has a maintenance schedule of every 105,000 miles or at seven years, whichever arrives first.

    Honda uses an interference engine that will be severely damaged if not destroyed when a timing belt brakes.

    Compare the Honda belt (left) to the Toyota (non-interference) 3.4L belt (right) to see the size difference.

    Which belt would you rather run?

    I've never worked on a Honda that the timing belt has broken but I'm sure it happens more frequent being a thinner belt. I wonder why they went with so narrow on the width?

    I suspect to lower the cost or to save engine compartment room. I didn't think anything about it until I saw a Toyota belt.

    Ford used to use a hefty one. Since it was a Ford I think it was considered lifetime.

    J/K but really it wasn't spoken of much. The old Fox body 2.3 4 cyl. Used in Ranger,Pinto, SVO Turbo, T-Bird. I don't think they were interference come to think of.

    Honda and Hyundai's were what I've seen trashed the most. Honda usually makes 150K or so but I have seen a lot of broken ones after that. Valves into head, cam breaks in half, pistons with holes. They're shot. Hyundai used to break them at any given time. 70K, 74K, whenever.

    Reading this made me worried we'd have yet another imminent issue on our hands with my wife's Accord, luckily though she has the 4cyl...just looked it up and they're timing chains

    yeah i did actually, saved two of them originals and made some nice landscaping out in the back under the tree, going for a rustic type of look with some flowers or whatever to be planted in the spring. planning on using some tire dressing on those unless that is hazardous to plant life

    motor oil and other fluids i do not save

    Yea. My neighbors are not embarrassed to ask me for belt changes.

    Funny, I can do that (had 2 fusions) easier than spark plugs on a tall truck. I really can't reach far into a full size.
    I wish they made another small truck new I could reach into.
