It does have a head on the tip for removal or you could get a stud removal tool.

    The head looks e torx

look up stud remover sockets. The design I use comes in different sizes and has 3 ball rollers inside that look like large tube needle bearings.
The idea is it’s supposed to be gentle enough to re use a stud.

though usually when people remove studs they put new ones. Whether that be on a timing belt on a car or exhaust manifold studs due to worn condition.

in my experience the method of locking 2 nuts on there to remove/install does not actually work in real life nor achieve required torque without damage

I’m not sure if/why you even need to remove them
Studs are typically designed as allowed to leave in place without getting in the way and are used as mounting guides to slide over them whatever bolts to it.

Can't you use two nuts to remove it?

Just run to the auto parts store and buy the right socket. My local autozone has them.

There is no problem using 2 nuts to remove the stud. The problem is that when using 2 nuts on a longer stud, you have to make sure not to use lateral force on the stud. Essentially, you don’t want to bend the stud. (It usually breaks. It doesn’t actually bend)

I find the old school breaker bar that has the slide through handle works best. That way you are twisting socket from 2 sides.

You can try this if you want.
One pipe wrench that can grip the center body of the bolt and double nut on the end. Turn both at the same time.

I've got those but they usually crush the threads. Not a big deal if a die will clean them up.. but something to think about

restorer bits are for restoring threads. Dies are for cutting

I understand what you're saying, but in my experience a restorer can only "bump" threads back into line if they get pushed around. It won't uncrush threads that have been flattened. The die can cut through them and make the stud usable again.
