    Hello TW,
I’m new to this whole forum thing so please excuse my ignorance. I just bought a truck last week. 06 Tacoma Pre-Runner TRD double cab short bed Black. I haven’t had time to take pics of it but I will this weekend. Anyways I just noticed that the timing cover is leaking/seeping oil. Man I was so upset because I didn’t notice it at the dealership before I bought it. That’s probably because they cleaned the engine and got rid of the evidence. Any ways, I went to Toyota and it turns out its out of warranty and it will cost me about 1300 to get the gasket replaced. Man I was so angry, especially because the people at the service department were so arrogant. Anyways, I'm in OC. And was wondering if anyone out there has done this before and would like to give me a hand (I got beer and pizza and wouldn’t mind helping you out with some projects). I know a thing or two about working on cars but am not expert. Or, if someone has done it before, can you maybe guide me through it? Any help would be appreciated. Also, is an extended warranty for my truck a good idea? I have 80k and Toyota is offering me a 2yr 24K mile warranty for 1700. I feel like it’s a rip off but would appreciate some input.
Thanks again TW and I look forward to your responses.

Welcome to TW! Can you post up pics of the leak? There is a chance it could just be spilt oil from an oil change....I would like to confirm this for ya.

Ok huts so here's the scoop. I took the truck to Toyota and unfortunately it's not just some spilled oil. It's on the passeger side so that's ruled out. I'm gonna work on my truck today and take some pics. I will post them up soon. Thanks for the help.

Chris is this timing cover leak in your opinion? Getting frame done and may fix. If so what's reasonable price from dealer?
