Bro your profile picture is fire, sick setup there. I purchased this truck used and got the extended 100k warranty for 1,000 bucks. So glad I did now. Well I have 1 pic, looks like they didn't have to pull the engine. You may be in luck with the bumper 20190308_153348.jpg

Yup, your truck Is officially badass! Love the setup. Well mine will be Done supposedly tomorrow. If I have any issues from the repair il post it here and let you know. I have a warranty for along time so I can keep bringing it back it's not a big deal for me. I thought about not having it done as well but I just think it's crazy to have an engine oil leak on new trucks and maybe if more ppl report it and have the work done Toyota might actually fix it at the source.

Reminds me of the Toyota and Subaru Tech's using a bit much RTV after tearing down the engines.

Mine showed up after about 6k miles, at least that’s when I poked my head under there to check on it. My guess is it starts happening much sooner than people realize it

Presently own a '18 4 cyl. 2.7 and was considering buying a 3.5 as I sometimes wish for more grunt. An oil leak on a new/newer vehicle would bother me much more than an occasional wish for more juice.
I recall the days when Toyotas and Hondas wouldn't start seeping oil unless they were more than 10 years old!
Own a 2005 3.3 L Lexus and only recently replaced valve cover gaskets...13 years until it started to leak. My '07 Accord is still leak-free.

Am interested in knowing if this issue has been resolved with the '18 and '19 models though.

I'd take these complaints with grain of salt. On limited forums such as this, a few people complaining can lead some to think it's a huge widespread problem when in reality, that's simply not the case. Think about it; thru 2018, there have been about 815,000 3rd Gens sold.

I have the same leak in my 2016. I’m at 39,000 miles. Should this be covered under the power train warranty or am I screwed and just have to deal with it?

Well I guess I will be calling to make an appointment tomorrow. My leak is pretty knarly under there. So to date, I have had to replace my front bushings, rear engine coolant leak, and now this oil leak. Not to mention the annoying driver side seat that clunks around when braking. I still love the truck though just surprised with some of these problems.

20190310_081021.jpg Picked up my truck today. Took them 3 days to get approval from warranty or whoever and 4 days of labor. Truck drove fine everything looks normal and they cleaned the area so Il be keeping an eye out for any more oil. I had a surf trip planned this weekend so I had to drive the rental camry offroad

I had the same leak on my truck which I noticed around 30k miles after I dropped the skid plate to do an oil change.

Dealer fixed it in about a week since they had to wait for parts. But.. they also damaged the edges of my hood and fenders where they meet. Seemed like they weren't being careful when taking off or installing the hood. There were lots of scratches and paint chips along the edges and on top of the fenders where the hood likely rubbed. Their body shop fixed it after talking to the manager, but just something for you guys getting this repair done to keep an eye out for.

This really sucks... looks like my ‘17 TRD Sport 2WD has this leak too. Only 22000 miles.
Took it to my mechanic today for the first oil change out of the dealer. Since the free ones expired. And that’s the news I got.
I’ve read all the posts on this tread .. but didn’t see if the engine has to come out on the 2WD models.
I’m already thinking in what to trade it for...

I have a 4x4 and the engine wasn't removed for this repair. It took 3 days of labor once the parts arrived and I've had no issues since. If it's free let them fix it.

I’m taking it in this Friday. Hopefully the engine won’t have to come out. At least I bought a 100k extended warranty from my credit union when I bought the truck. I figure with a brand new engine it would be the smart thing to do. But for now.. Toyota should have it covered.

Funny story....Same thing here. Just randomly took a peek at my engine today at work and boom same leak. I’m heading to the dealership first thing tomorrow morning. I have to go out of town for the weekend, which will be perfect they can have it back to me on Monday lol

I wouldn’t wait around to get a oil leak this fixed. It’s covered under warranty, plus I have the 100K extended. So I will require a loaner.

Thank you so much to you guys for posting this and keeping this thread active. Saved me a bunch of well maybe it could be this or that at the dealership.

So can you only see if it's leaking if you get under the truck?

Guess I need to check mine, although probably won't matter since I'm at 67k miles.

However, if it is leaking I'll be pissed that the dealer hasn't mentioned it during the last 6 oil changes.

You will definitely see the oil leak coming from what looks like the pulley from
The power steering pump. You’ll also
Be able to see the oil leak from the left side of the engine if you’re looking from the top side of the engine down. And looks like it’s beeb there for a while so I’ll
Be complaining as to why the techs have not spotted this sooner?
