The dreaded timing cover oil leak :(. No issues getting it repaired under warranty. It's been in the shop for a week due to the hurricane Barry scare and a fuel line issue from a repair another dealer did when a gas station put diesel in the gas pumps. Should have it back tomorrow and hopefully all is well lol. Pretty big job.

I’d be worried sick. It would be like some hot stud taking my wife on a date and not knowing what they doing.

But definitely the truck thing would worry me more lol.

The guy doing this job is a seasoned tech and has proven he takes pride in his work. This is not the minimum wage oil change guy on this one.
Trust me, because I am the lead tech in our shop and I get all the cracked blocks in the spring. (Boat shop).

I believe you. My biggest problem when it comes to anything I own is that nobody cares for it like you will. I’m sure they know what they are doing but if they scratch, dent, or break something they may hide it.

Yikes! A lot of current owners complain that the legendary Toyota quality is lacking in the new vehicles. It originally brought them into the dealership but they second guess their purchase decision. At least its under warranty...

I’m sure it’s a rare event. My only concern is if it leaks after the warranty is up. Wonder if the ones that don’t leak never leak and the ones that do were just defective.

Not really a mechanical failure more of a manufacturing issue on some of the early 2016-2017 tacomas. Its covered on the powertrain warranty so you have 60k miles.

I’m mediocre looking. Could I grab your wife’s cell number if that’s cool?

I’m on here all the time and this is the first I’ve heard of a timing cover oil leak :anonymous:

    How’d you discover it?

    New vehicle quality?
    Do some research next time.
It existed in the OLD 2nd gen toyotas glorious 4.0 and there was a TSB (T-SB-0326-08) for it.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tsb-oil-leak-timing-cover-being-fixed.96895/

Current Toyota only ? LOL.:rofl::rofl: It has existed and will always exist in some vehicles.
Don't spin it up as a new gen problem.
