I tried the side windows and back window on an old dodge truck I have.. ended up peeling it off and letting a pro do it.. but you might do it and be great at it.. just not me lol

You’d be amazed by just doing the clear ceramic on all the windows that is made for heat reflection will help cab temps.

I will apply a 45% tint to all side windows and back windows on top of the dealership tint.

    8E344D5D-01A8-483D-95AC-9D16CDBE97FA.jpg If it’s 35% for the front window then it would be 0.35 x 0.45= 0.1575x 100= 15.75%

Just post a picture of the top edges of your driver door window and rear door window with the window rolled down and we would be able to tell u if it's just the factory tinted glass or if someone has actually installed a tint film on it

I usually go with 20% on the front two windows to match the factory tint. My 3rd gen I put 5% on the 2 front doors n windshield strip and the rear doors and back of cab put 20% on them and it all matches perfect. I did it myself so I saved alot of money. Going back to the post where you said you'll attempt it yourself if you arent familiar with it you are better off paying someone to do it a professional tint shop

That is an installed film and would have to be removed in order to out a new layer of film on it. I've seen some people put tint film over tint film but I wouldnt recommend it

Are you planning on cutting the tint yourself? If you're not familiar with hand cutting they do sell precut patterns which might aid in you doing it yourself

Do I have to tint below the sun strip? Or tint over it?

If you plan on tinting over the tint on the doors, might as well go for it on the windshield. Best of luck to you as the front will need to be heat shrunk to conform to the curves of the window or else you'll fight it forever and itll never be right you'll have too many "fingers" in it thatll never adhere.

20200209_124601.jpg here is mine with 5% on the front doors and 20% over factory tint, the only reason the front looks lighter is because the sun is shining in through the windshield other wise its spot on.

Tint that comes from the factory is dyed glass, it’s not removable. Dealerships will sometimes tint in-stock units to make them sell quicker or make more money.

    Toyota’s factory tint on Tacoma’s is ~28%

As far as doing it yourself, go ahead and try it, it’ll make you appreciate the people who do it professionally lol
