    A star and most chips on a windshield will turn into a crack when the tint is being shrunk by a heat gun most of the time. The chip/star isn't smooth and will most likely deform the tint slightly while the tint is being shrunk and the risk of the tint not conforming to the inside of the windshield is higher than if the chip/star wasn't there but that can usually be worked out.

    If it were my truck and if I were in a financial situation where I couldn't replace the windshield then I wouldn't try to tint a windshield with a chip or a star in it.

    I dug these up a few days ago. I haven't used them for a lot of years, we'll see how that works out for me lol
