how about you just suck it up, get the sand out of your vagina, and just quit.

think about the lovely kid in your wife's belly.... if you can't man up and quit for yourself.... quit for your wife and child.

replace the need to dip with working out. any time you get an erge, go on a run, fast hard run....

I smoked and dipped my whole time in the military and continued the habit after I got out. Last new years I quit smoking cold turkey and have not smoked since. I continued dipping which probably made quitting smoking easier.

I still dip now but went from long cut to pouches and am down to about a can a week. It's still bad but much better then it use to be.

I completely understand your pain. I dipped Copenhagen since I was 10 years old and quit after 17 years. I went cold turkey July 4th, 1992 and have not had a dip since. Even to this day, when I drive long distances, I have to have something in my mouth so I use beef jerky....

Ive dipped and smoked...in the process of quitting smoking now. They say the average dipper gets 2x the amount of nicotine then the pack-a-day smoker. So I can see that tryin to quit dipping/chewing can be a lot harder. I used to smoke a pack a day and the past 5 days Ive been down to 5 cigs a day...tryin to slowly ween off..i think it will help..As long as I stay occupied I am fine..but as soon as there is a lull in the action I want one pretty bad. Also try those nicotine lozenges they seem to help me when I have a really bad craving...good luck to you

Absolutely it is all in the mind. Cold Turkey 7 years ago. Copenhagen was the bomb. But you are right you have to want it.

I quit Copenhagen in May of 2000. Cold Turkey is the way to go. Once you get through the first 7 to 10 days you should be OK. Good luck with it!

Cold turkey as the others have said. I believe the physical dependency of the nicotine is 72 hours after that it is just the habit part of it kicking your ass. I must admit cope was the best, did it for years as well. You do it long enough you realize your swallowing more and spitting less. I knew it was time to quit when I could dip while I was working (office environment) and nobody had any idea, no spit cup. You've got to want it.

Thats enough for me. I showed it to a buddy at work and we both agreed. Next Wednesday we will be shooting on the range and will enjoy out last dips together. After that.....cold turkey.

Great thread and good luck to anyone else trying to quit a nasty habit.
