    Hey y'all,

I'm sure this has been beaten to death on here but I can't find the exact answer on a thread. I don't have much clearance for my tire to the UCA. I don't have any rub on the cab mount or front fender.

    Info:
    • 3" above coil lift in front and spacer in back
    • 285/70/17lt Iron Man AT
    • Helo HE791 wheels with -6 offset
    • Get a little bump/rubbing sound when I corner hard up a hill
      • Not really sure what the rub is - can't find marks
    • I bought it with this set up
    • I tried to put 1.25" spacers on but it made them rub the mount and fender
    History:
    • I got some stock TRD wheels on craigslist and put some Renegade R7 Radar 285/70/17 M/T tires on them
      • I got 1.25 " spidertrax spacers to use. Tires fit on there but any turning at all and it rubbed the cab mount and fender.
      • Same size tire as the Iron man but I guess the tread was more aggressive
    • I have since sold these tires but I really wanted them on it - I had them on a Tahoe I had before and loved them.
    Questions:
    • Is the proximity of the tire to the UCA arm an issue?
      • I want to go trail riding but I'm afraid I'll pop a tire or break something
    • Would having the camber or caster adjusted help to fix this?
    • I am not a huge fan of the look of this wheel/tire set up
      • What rims and tires are best for the geometry of a truck with this set up.
        • Offset/tire size/etc.
    • Would an after market UCA fix this?
Picture is of my LF UCA to the tire sitting on level ground

The tire is close to the arm from the factory. There’s only about 1/2” of space. That’s not an issue. Tire could be rubbing the mud flap.

I have more clearance on my truck between the arm and tire than the picture above, but I have SPC upper control arms. I also have 17” TRD Pro 4Runner wheels and bfg mud terrain km2s.

My issue was the coil spring rubbing on the control arm.
Right now my tires only rub slightly on the front of the fender liner and lower corners of the bumper at full lock which I haven’t had time to trim yet.
Use a tire crayon on places you think yours rubs and try to narrow it down that way

This is the spacing I have with my SCS SR8s (4.30 BS and -10mm offset) on 265/70r17 Falken AT3Ws. 3in lift with JBA UCAs.

    No rubbing at all.

The more I like at your photo, it does kinda look like your UCA has some rub marks.

seems like a minor issue unless you corner hard up hills 50x a day :pccoffee:

When I sy corner hard I mean turning into my up hill driveway going about 5mph.

I may either look into new UCAs. I've seen a lot of people us the JBAs and I haven't heard anything bad about them. Or i might see if I can find some decent .75" spacers

that's different then. id try to narrow it down before you start replacing parts at random. maybe get some colored chalk and mark places you think are rubbing and then turn into your driveway and see where it got rubbed off.

Yep. I found the rub. It’s actually not on the point of the UCA closest to the tire. It’s about 6 inches towards to front of the car on the control arm. It’s where the tire is at full lock and rubs it. It touches on flat ground too. Spacers are needed. The aftermarket UCAs will still have the same shape at that point of it.

More negative offset wheels or more skinny tires (255/75).

I'd love to because I hate those rims. I'll try spacers first since they're cheaper.

I ran spacers for a few years before getting new rims, and I prefer the latter much more, not just for looks but also because it makes everything feel better/tighter.

I bought my JBAs off a guy who had rubbing issues when he tried to mount 35s. He said with 33s he never had an issue.
