Hello all. Similar issue...I’ve recently purchased a set of 2017 TRD sport wheels and tires with oem Toyota TPMS sensors to try to put on my 2006 prerunner (which currently has a set of steel wheels on)...and in my first call to the Toyota dealership, they weren’t sure if the newer sensors could be programmed to my 2006 system just because of the age gap. Anybody have any experience with this? I see 2nd gens running 3rd gen wheels all the time...any idea if they’re with the oem Toyota sensors??

I would imagine you would want to swap 2nd gen sensors onto the 3rd gen wheels.
