Tire Rub Remedy?

    Good evening TWers. I just got my 285/75/16 BFG A/Ts on the truck with 1.25" spidertrax wheel spacers. I have OME 885s and stock wheels. Driving out of the shop, they rubbed the inner plastic of the fender pretty bad, so I drove home and did some surgery with a pair of branch clippers. They worked great and ALMOST all of the rubbing was cured. My only problem now is during the process of turning sharply(parking lots, 3-point turns, etc.), the tire catches on the bottom corner of the fender.

    Is there anything to do for that? Would the top plate spacer help raise it up out of harm's way?

    P.S. I can personally put two myths to rest:
    -"Aftermarket UCAs are recommended after a 3 inch lift" My alignment is wonderful with the stock UCAs!
    -"Stock wheels and 285s will bestow upon you fairly severe rubbing issues, possibly resulting in a cab mount chop" Mine haven't rubbed any more than the average person. I just have this one problem

    +1 same set up here. But mine never rubbed any body parts. only the uca now I have 1.25" spidertracks and now that's all over.

    So you think the top plate spacer could be my ticket out of rubbing?

    trim the bottom corner of the fender flare, its all plastic, i just cut mine some more today with a kershaw pocket knife, its that easy.

    it will give you the full 3" up front. I ran my 285's for a while with only the 5100's @ 2.5" and no rub.

    i have 285's, with billies set to 2.5", stock coils, and no rub.

    Ugh.

    Alignment is not the only reason aftermarket upper arms are preferable after lifting. They remain recommended.

    You have wheel spacers.


    Let me ask: Did you actually do any math on backspacing, offset of your wheels and then did you fully cycle your front suspension with the wheels at full lock both directions, or are you just winging this and happy because it hasn't rubbed much on the drives around town?

    ^ he cant do 3 point turns, or turn while driving over the curb at the mall..

    I hardly wheel. I mean, I live in southern Alabama haha. All there is is white sandy beaches, and mud. And I'm sure as hell not destroying my sweet baby by running it through mud. Also, I'm 16 years old. The truck is not in my name, so I'm really not even allowed to wheel it!:eek:

    EDIT: I guess you could say I'm a mall crawler by circumstance:(
