I just put a 3 inch lift on my tacoma and im in the process of buying new tires, i have decided to go with the good year duratracs
im not sure what size to get them in tho:

    265/75/16
    or
    285/75/16

would like to know peoples thoughts on the difference in gas milliage between the two tires, and also if you have pics of either size on your tacoma with a 3 inch lift that would be great to see also
any other info you have on these tires and sizes would help to
    thanks

I dont think there is much difference in mpg between 265 and 285. The only issue is rubbing. If you have stock rims, you will need wheel spacers, spidertrax recomended, to run 285s. Also you will have a little trimming involved w/ 285s. 265s are a bit smaller and require no trimming, but will look small

265s for now, don't look too small to me. i had an almost new set of 265s when the lift went on, so i can't really afford to just go and buy new ones. but will be going back with 285s or 295s next time now that i can fit them. you'll need wider wheels or wheel spacers to go above 265/75

You may get a few pics posted on this thread. To see more pix than you can stand, go to images.google.com and enter as a search string

    +tacoma +285/75R16
    then do another one
    +tacoma +285/70R17

the '+' is important as it says not to bother showing you images that don't have both of those expressions near the picture. Not every pic will be a tacoma with the tires you're looking for. But it will be, as they say, a 'target rich environment.' ;)

If you're gonna run 285s you need to be mentally prepared to take a knife to your truck and cut plastic inner wheelwell anywhere it rubs, and possibly but not certainly cut off part of the body cab mount. Both of these are relatively easy straightforward mods.

But, I just got my tires last week, and I haven't got over the novelty of showing off.
