Has any been using TJM locker? How does the TJM locker stack up against a ARB locker? The TJM is an Australian made where the ARB is US made

Where do you see that ARB is USA made?
    https://www.arb.com.au/about/

    Personally, this would be *my* choice for a locker;
    https://www.harrop.com.au/shop/4x4-performance/elocker/elocker-toyota-tacoma-rear-shimmed

(althought I'm not sure if that is for a 2005+, or 2004-)
... they also have listings for both FRONT and REAR lockers for 4-runner and fj. Probably some of those would fit.

No stupid air compressor. Just give it electric and be done with it.

    Edit:
    http://yotalockers.com/pages/toyota-tacoma-1995-to-2015

Yep, there are two part numbers available for front, based on the differential ratio. One part number for rear. Definitely compatible with 2005+.

I'm not sure if air will work in weather we get cold warm then cold. Am concerned about the lines freezing up and then when I need the locker it doesn't work. Any one have any problems with the lines freezing?

Right, why do you think that I pointed out an ELECTRIC locker for you?
No stupid air lines and compressors to cause you problems.

hmm, as a person that has had an ARB in trucks since 2000, i have never had an issue. from freezing, to desert. it works well. you also get the bonus of having a air compressor on board for airing up your tires at the end of the day. Have never had one fail or leak. Just install they properly and you should be good to go. route your air hoses cleanly and you wont have any issues.

I feel the same way about air being "more complicated" than electric, BUT it's still reliable and having OBA is a plus. I might not have done extensive research on it, but I haven't heard of any reliability issues with air lockers in cold weather. :notsure:

I can't say definitively that it's not possible but I've had no issue. However, the only time I've used my lockers during winter was on a 30+ degree day. I've never used them on road of course.

In theory the only thing that should be in those lines is air. Though I suppose condensate could pool and freeze somewhere. But I've had no excuse to use the lockers in sub zero temps yet!

On road I stick to 4H without lockers and have cruised icy I-90 at 75mph without issue. I'd rather allow slipping on ice to prevent loss of control. That's what the "limited slip" is partly about, allowing traction control.

Edit: BTW - ARB is from Australia... where did you hear their lockers are US made?

Australians know their shit, I like my ARBs but honestly either one you will be happy. I've yet to find major failures of either one.

Their compressors aren't exactly going to give you 15 CFM to run your air disk grinder. Basically just a tire pump, and having the tire pump bolted in under the hood where it will get sprayed with salt in the winter really isn't an advantage. Just go to Amazon and buy a ciglighter plug tire pump for $15.

I've already got 4gal at 120psi on tap. No plans on using an air grinder with it though.

That was general advice to address the theoretical benefits, not a specific recommendation for you.

The ARB dual compressor runs air tools just fine - from what I've read. You just need a tank onboard.

Salt doesn't get under my hood. It gets on everything behind the front wheels.

I honestly wouldn't worry about the air lines freezing there are ton's of trucks in Iceland that use ARB lockers and they have some really high humidity as well.
