Well I kind of feel like a pussy now due to the fact that I dont want to have a ton of road noise.......

I Really am digging the look of those Hankooks they seem to last a while from what I read and they wont rub for sure so I think that might just be the winner. Thanks for all the helpful info!

Post pics when you get your new tires installed.
BTW, here's a pic of a Taco with the MTZ's installed.

These are the tires that are at the front of my list for my next upgrade. As far as the rub goes, do searches of the tires you're considering, and PM the owners who are running those tires who have similar setups to your Taco.

url=http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/50616/cat/500][IMG][/url] I've got the Hankooks on my F250 and with 40000 miles on them they still got enough tread for at least 20k more. Great traction. I'd buy them again in a minute.

Well.... when you're around off roaders a lot and we know that A/T (or T/A) means All Terrain and that means good compromise between highway use (there I got the 'h' in that time) and dirt use, and quiet on the highway.

M/T means Mud Terrain as much as it means Maximum Traction. The Mickey Thompson MTZ is a super looking Mud tire. By-the-way, I got to meet, talk with and camp next to Mickey Thompson on several occaisions and yes, he is a legend.

The Baja ATZ tire looks great, too... but another TW member said they were VERY noisy on the highway as well... that is too bad as it was one of my considerations for when the BFGs get replaced.

The Cooper STT pictured above is what I had on my '05 for 40,000 miles... look great, did great in mud (because they are a mud tire), but were very loud on the highway and terrible in sand.

I am not posting stuff here to argue with anyone... only the facts and experiences I have had or known of. Sorry if my typos or bad spelling bugs you.

The OP wants a good highway truck tire that will work for his 10% off road time... Which is what most of us get in, if we are lucky.

Cooper Discoverer ATRs, Toyo Open Country A/Ts are two that I have had and liked on my '05. On my '01, I used the Pep Boys (made by Cooper) Futura Dakotas (now Destiny Dakotas)... a real nice looking A/T truck tire... similar tread to BFG All Terrain T/As.

Does T/A really mean All Terrain? I always see muscle cars with BFG Radial T/A's, which are definitely not all terrains.

The truck belongs to JRobson. The wheels are Moto Metal 17x9 955's with 4.5" backspacing and 285-70-17 Mickey Thompson MTZ. The lift is ToyTec ultimate lift.

Probably not in BFG's case, being a French company and all.... Their 'All Terrain' tire is called an All Terrain T/A and Rugged Trail T/A.

But, Toyo calls theirs Open Country AT... Cooper Discoverer and Pirelli Scorpion call theirs ATR (All Terrain Radial?)...

I am not in the tire business, so take my comments in this thread as opinion...
