    That's how I blew mine in Moab, replaced the open rear with an ARB and haven't had issues since. Going to add a front ARB and regear this spring.

    So I agree it is always better to solve the problem rather than fix the immediate issue. With that being said and with the budget in mind, would it be prudent to spend that money on the rear axel? That would leave me very little/nothing to regear the front. I'm currently looking for best option within the budget I have. I can flex a little but that will be beyond my capabilities at this time.

    That is unless someone can find that Unicorn :D

    I vote gears and lockers, keep the stock axle. Plenty on here beat the shit out of the stock axle, yes gears get broken and it is a PITA to deal with, but careful driving and learning from your mistakes will help prevent more breakage. Sure a Currie or Diamond is stronger, no doubt, but for the money and what it sounds like you use your truck for, stock with dual lockers and a regear should get you what you need without breaking the bank.

    Only you can decide that. You've already gone through one ring and pinion and I've read of some on this forum going through three or more gearsets. If it was me, I would try to find something from a junkyard to put in your current housing and save up some money for a better axle.

    As much as I hate to admit it, his is the route I most likely will go with. Unless I find the deal of a life time on a good used axle.
