Can you list what phone you have? Toyota told me to drive the truck with no phone paired until it happens again. They think some kind of weather app on my phone is causing it. I have a vzw s7 edge.

    Sounds like some BS!

Weird! The only "issue" I've had with mine is it will dim for a couple of seconds, sound
and everything else stays up, nav still running, etc. This ONLY happens when I go under
an overpass, I just took it as the signal was degraded for a moment or two.

That's just your light sensor (passenger side of dash) detecting reduced light and switching your display to night mode. You can change sensitivity settings for the light sensor in the settings.

Thanks, figured as much and being that everything stayed up and running
I saw it as no issue at all.

I dont have any weather apps on my phone, just the weather app on the head unit that goes through HD signal. Happened 8 times in the same day even after shutting the truck off. Iphone 4s was paired at the time. Hasnt happened since even in the rain and snow.

Have several weather apps on my phone which is a Samsung, Galaxy 6. I only listen to Sirus, but no issues, in rain, sleet or snow. Been paired since the day I drove it out of the dealership last October. Sounds like a strange excuse.

It happened to me also when it was raining hard out. I have the Samsung Galaxy S6 paired to the truck. It only happened that one day (only day its rained hard since I have had the truck) and the radio would crash every 3 to 5 min. on my 25 min. drive.

It has not happened on my 2016 Taco with an iPhone 5 running iOS 9.x . However, my wife's 2014 Highlander unit would randomly reboot and it only occurred when the iPhone was connected. It never happened when either an Android phone or no phone was connected. After installing a firmware update to the head unit the problem went away. My guess is the dealer knows this has been an issue in the past and is using you to help confirm that is may be an issue again.

BTW, it may be an issue with the number of songs on your phone. Do you have a lot stored there?

I have a Samsung Note 3; my unit reboots when I am on a long trip and have been driving a few hours. The phone has always been paired. Driving an hour to work; no problems, but longer trips where I don't stop for 2 or more hours it will reboot. Has rebooted total maybe 11 or 12 times: I have over 10,000 miles.TRD OR 4X4 AUTO.

It works normal after the reboot. I have no apps on phone that work with entune.

I have an Samsung S4 Active paired to it, no weather app. It rebooted multiple times during a heavy rain here last week. I took it to Toyota the next day and they said there was an update for the software required? Sounds like BS. It has not done it since and has been through another storm since. They asked if it should occur to video it with the phone.

I haven't experienced any issues with the radio in my Tacoma, but the wife's Highlander was causing some issues shutting off randomly. Took it into the dealer and the tech took one look and said it was because she had selected "HD". Deselected that and she hasn't had any problems since. He told us that HD works pretty good in town, but not so good in the country, which is where we live.

So the software update seemed to fix your issues?

Its been a week and it has not reoccurred again, but I had put 2500+ on it and it had never occurred prior. Hopefully it did correct the issue. I do love the truck.

its just BS man, i did this with my iPhone 6 plus too. don't pair your phone for 7 days, wipe the data on your phone, they said its my phone that's causing the problem, such inconvenience when my truck was 2 weeks old. Felt so powerless but i had to deal with their BS advise just so that i can have them fix the real problem. Doing everything they advised me to didn't fix the problem, went back many times and finally got a replacement head unit after 3 months, still rebooting. didn't even bother to go back as i found a way to temporarily deal with it. mine doesn't reboot during raining though, rain or no rain, it just reboots at a certain area..

Only had really heavy rains once since either bought it and haven't had an issue. I believe there used to be an issue about having it plugged in and connected with Bluetooth at the same time on some Toyotas. Might check into that.

weird, I called a couple dealers - no updates for the head units in the
    near future.

Mine doesn't reboot, but when listening to music over the bluetooth, the music screen, either when full screen or at the home screen where the music box is in the top left, will flicker every so often. It doesn't effect the music playing, but it's rather annoying and looks like it's broken while it does this. Iphone 5s here.

Based on a comment in another thread, are your phones plugged in to the USB port for charging when the headunit reboots? The other poster said that he encounters random reboots when the phone is both bluetooth connected and USB connected. No reboots when plugged in for charging while bluetooth is disabled and vice-versa.
