Mine rebooted twice at 4,600 miles coming back from a desert trip. Just had my 5k service done yesterday and my dealership has reported the issue to Toyota corp. Service manager said that more than likely will replace the head unit (JBL).

Mine will reboot but I know it's an issue between my phone and the headunit. I had it happen a few times the other day but my phone, Pandora and the Toyota app were acting up big time. The headunit rebooted about 4 times in about 5 minutes. I unpaired my phone and it stopped. Removed then reinstalled Pandora and the Toyota app (can't think of the exact name right now) and restarted my phone. Has not happened since. I do have issues using Pandora through the headunit nearly all the time where it will cause it to hang up and other issues, but when using it just through bluetooth it works the majority of the time.

I was driving home in heavy rain last night and my JBL entune audio system rebooted at least 15 times in my 30 minute commute home. The only other time this happened was in a heavy rain. That time, the headlights turned off completely as did the head unit. How can rain affect the head unit while its inside a dry cabin?

I don't even have my truck yet, so I don't have any first-hand experience with this issue. I think that it's too weird for all of you to say that it happens while raining for it to be a coincidence. My guess would be high humidity getting moisture somewhere that it shouldn't be or maybe the antenna that looks like a fin and sits on the roof isn't sealed correctly.

I cant really believe rain has anything to do with this issue. It just cant. I had two reboots a few weeks ago and haven't had any issues since. In fact I think it was right after I installed the last update. I have an iPhone 6s and almost always stream something- iTunes, pandora, etc.

If another user is saying he took his truck in and and his dealer told him the reset is occurring because of his radio having the HD radio feature turned on and he shuts it off due to lack of signal and it's been working fine ever since. Then why are there still people here that are saying they wiped their phone or do resets and it's still doing this? Give that a try and see if it works. If not atleast you eliminated one scenario

I have a Samsung Galaxy 6 and had mine reboot twice in about 10 mins while driving in rain this am. I was streaming music via Bluetooth from files on my phone (so loss of HD signal should not matter) and do not have any weather apps on the phone. It was not plugged into the USB and wireless charging was not turned on.

I'm thinking this is a software issue on toyotas side. I have a '14 JBL and have been having the same issues as you all with the '16. I have it happen randomly as well. The unit will freeze sometimes. I have my phone plugged into a charger USB not the one that's already there (charges too slow) and paired with Bluetooth. Ithat really started to do it badly this week. I have an iPhone as well. Will try impairing my phone see if that helps. I wasn't using engine iPhone apps would use Bluetooth music but it would do it using XM as well :) so annoying!!!

do you guys with the problem have the auto windshield wipers? Is the rain turning them on somehow interfering with the radio?

Yes because rain is best friends with your head unit and tells it when to turn on and off...no rain has nothing to do with anything your truck is just stupid

So I had the problems continue today with the iPhone not connected to Bluetooth and the phone was t plugged into the USB port. I can't help but wonder if the last engine update they did is just unstable? I don't remember having these issues prior to that.

I've had at least 2-3 Toyota's (Tacoma's, T4R's & Camry's) a year since about 2006. I can't remember what year they added Entunes but every vehicle I've had with Entunes before I bought my 16' had issues with the radio randomly rebooting. With the exception of a 6 month period where I had a Galaxy I've had iPhones the whole time.

I believe it's a software issue but it seemed to happen a lot more when the weather was cold.

I see that people are still having issues with the 3rd gen trucks but I'm not one of them. I may be jinxing myself but I haven't had a single issue with my 16' or 17'.
