The tire pressure thing can go either way. Higher pressure causes teh hydroplane speed to be raised, however, you also loose tire surface area, thus a friction/traction surface. Most all street tires have to be rated for a certain amount of rainfall, up to their min. tred depth, at their rated load range pressure. I havent noticed any difference in hydroplane speeds when aired up to 10 psi over what I run in dry, and at posted limits. AND.....We dont get alot of rain out here to be able to measure with any accuracy. That all being said, some people feel airing up is better, while others say running the "regular" psi is best.

    Good it turned out ok.

Trucks can be very unforgiving when it gets slick. I never fishtailed or spun out but did see a ram1500 hydroplane during a heavy rain and end up skiding backwards a few years back. It took me a few seconds to register what i was seeing. Strange sight seeing a vehicle that big get whipped around like a matchbox toy car. In rain or slick conditions it's best to take it easy on the throttle and watch cornering when on the highway. It's easy to forget we are driving trucks with loose tails and high centers of gravity.

Glad you and no one else was hurt. These bay area freeways are full of low spots, especially bad in the rain when they're full of water!!!

    Close calls are never fun.

    This ^^^^

Way too easy for others to try and armchair quarterback what "went wrong". Any decision could have been bad. Main thing is she is OK.

Use 4Hi next time it rains. I find it makes a big difference in wet pavement handling.

If their wheels were hopping, they had plenty of traction to continue upward travel. Must have been a differnt thing making the sound.

Glad you are ok babytruck! I know the pucker factor first hand with the taco starts performing its "safe your ass" beeping followed by life saving procedures. I went over bridge back in the winter that I didn't think was icy, boy was I wrong. The funny thing is my wife warned me before I left for work to watch out for such! She must never know she was right (j/K)! ;)

i have had to use it coming up my drive way. kinda steep and gets slick. also at stops i down shift to 2nd or even “L” and shift my way to drive. helps keep it from spinning. may try 4H some time we get days wear all it does is rain for 4 to 6 hours. roads flood. i have seen roads with a foot of water that are usually like 3 maybe 4 feet above the water on a day that it is not raining. i have seen creeks rise like 4 feet in a day.

bet you never see that ins AZ or socal!

Monsoon season in Arizona would like a word with you. Water may not last days, but its there long enough for a few idiots to get there cars stuck .

Aside from that, while I don't know most all of you, I am glad to hear you and your taco survived the day BBT.
