So I was rolling into the throttle and as the RPMS climbs and the tach reached the orange, my truck starting to ping, BAD.
I have never heard a car ping this bad unless it was a turbo car with bad gas.
I am not running bad gas however I am running Chevron 91 octane. Maybe I should switch brands and see if it still does it. But how could a motor like this ping using premium fuel. All I can say is glad it is a lease.

How long is the power train warranty on these trucks anyways? I know the bumper to bumper is 3/36,000 but how long is the power train warranty?

yes I am sure it wasn't the rev limiter. As the RPMS went over 5 it started to ping like a loud cracking noise. I only have 8000 miles on my truck as well.

it could be a new additive. several companies are trying a campaign witha new additive so it would be safe to say thats what it is.

Isnt Chevron useing some "Nitrogen" infused fuel gimick, or is that someone else?

Darn...I just switched from ARCO to Chevron, even though I never had a problem with ARCO, maybe I'll switch to Shell.

I get all my gas at Go-Mart, which is Shell gas here in the east. I've been running the 89 octane, no problems and it's the cheapest here in my area.

Thats 's shell, shell fuel is the only brand I have run in my vehicles, equipment, and race bikes for the last 8 years. It does run a bit cleaner in the bikes and as a result I use it exclusively in everything else not sure whether or not it truly does clean carbon or what have you but on my bikes those pistons come out clean every rebuild so that made a believer out of me. And besides around here it is the same cost as the crap gas from co-fair.

^ agreed. I can feel the difference with shell in my Fi'd cts-v. I try to fill up at the shell station right now and the difference is noticeable in all of my cars.

Shell gas is using the Nitrogen infused fuel. Chevron has that Techron thing. I've been using the 91 Shell with the Nitrogen stuff the last few weeks. Haven't seen any significant changes, except for my exhaust seems to be a little louder.

By the way Chris how's Molly doing?

    Great to hear Chris.

Though about switching to Chevron gas just because it's a few cents cheaper than Shell, but now i don't think i will. I'll just stick with Shell.
