Hello. I am not yet one of you!

Tomorrow I seal the deal on my first pickup: a gently used 2007 access cab V6 4WD. Couldn't drive home with it today because, I was told, it's on a "frame hold." I played it cool! :spy::bananadance::cool:

Took a shot of her crusty underbelly.

He says the frame is due early April... I don't want anybody to steal this from under me (1 owner, <50K miles, maints on record) so I'm gonna pull the trigger. I've envied you tacoriders for years...next light, I join you!

Don't put too big a deposit on it. Guys here report waiting 6 months for them to get around to replacing the frame. Truck sits and rots on the lot the whole time, while your money is tied up in ransom for it.

Just telling it like it is. Be honest with the guy, wouldn't you want to know the downside before you commit?

Fellas, can you give me some advice?

This taco is still on the lot, waiting for parts from Toyota. At my last status update, I was told I could purchase the vehicle and drive it home but would need to return it when the parts arrive for maintenance.

Question: would that be a huge fuckup potentially? if something bad happens with the frame after I drive away (before repairs) is Toyota on the hook for repairs or would that mean I just paid 20 grand for a piece of junk?

Not too worried about that happening, but would appreciate any input...

I'm not in a rush to buy either since I'm saving cash away each week for a down-payment, anyway. BUT I would like to have the peace of mind that nobody else is gonna swoop in and snag it!

Secured my loan and was going to drive the 90 miles tonight to pick up the truck. Salesman called and said when he went back to get it ready for me, they had it in the air, stripping off parts. The frame arrived last night. Should be ready for pick up Monday. Woot!

Nice - spend a few days on TW and you'll be able to envision the holes you'll drill in it to mount some sliders! Welcome to TW!
