    Hello,

I had a 2017 Toyota Tacoma that came with a tonneau trifold cover from the factory. I got rid of the 2017 model and bought the same truck as a 2018 model, and was hoping to use the same cover on the 18. The bed size is the same, but the mounting kit (track system) is different. Has anybody else had this problem, and if so, did you find the conversion kit for the 2018 model?

    Thanks.

I was researching this topic because I bought a new tacoma and it did not have the tonneau cover and wanted to purchase one on tacoma world. From what I know is that in order for the install to work you need to do a parts swap between the two trucks. The bed caps are different (the set for the cover has cut outs for the attachment points) and there is also the mounting hardware that has to be removed from the old truck. Hope this helps

The mounting brackets are the same on a 2017 and 2018, except the bed rails. How is the mounting kit different?

The beds didnt change from 17 to 18. Your rail caps will need to be cut, and if you didnt keep all the hardware you will have to buy that. Did you trade the 2017 in at a dealer? If so, if not too late they may let you swap out the rails, because now the old truck has cut rails with no cover. If sold private party call the buyer and explain the situation.
