Recently paid off and plan on keeping a bit. It's 10 years old with 165k. Is it worth supercharging now? Will my engine and trans take it? Driven 2 that were sc and I'm in love.

It's never too late boss. During the time you have the engine apart I would suggest doing a little maintenance on your pulleys and replace your timing chains and check the condition of your intake. You shouldn't have to go as deep as removing the valve covers and cleaning your rods and pistons but they do make rebuild kits for these motors with new seals and gaskets. I would also replace those since you're already in there with OEM or OEM quality or better. If you haven't done so already, at 165k, I would do a drain and fill on the tranny. There's discussion as to whether or not you should do a complete flush of tranny fluid but that's up to you to decide. I'm lookin at supercharging too but I'm leaning regear before super. You'll definitely enjoy the boost. There's a thread somewhere on here about easy mods to do after boosting to get a bit more out of your screws. I'll see if I cant find it.

    This thread, and this thread.

I’d talk to the supercharger guys and get their opinion on putting the sc on a motor with 165k and 10 years old.

Much appreciated, did tranny partial flush at 120k and I'll do it again next year. Guess worst case is i blow the motor but that could be a costly lesson.

Well I supercharged mine at 60k and I’ve got 111k on it now so it really just depends on how you’ve maintained it and how the previous owner maintained it. I bought mine new so I didn’t even think twice about it

I supercharged mine at 145,000 miles and it's still going strong at 207,000 miles. I can't speak about the automatic transmission I have a manual.

At that mileage youll probably want to plan on a trans service and install a Trans Go shift kit and boost valve.

I supercharged my 1st gen at 125k when it was 13 years old. Best mod I ever did to that truck. Looking to supercharge my 2nd gen but will likely never find the same deal; $500 for a complete system in need of rebuild.
