    For reference. Cold start with my 5w-50, oil pressure is 90psi. Then lowers as engine warms up and idle settles. Down to ~26psi.

    So I dropped of my truck last night started it this morning with the service mangers and a tech the knocking noise is there they said a lot of there trucks do the same thing he said he wasn't going to okay anything but since it under warranty he was going to schedule a Toyota tech to come down and inspect it. He said the inspector might say it's normal nothing to worry about or he can say that he wants to take the engine apart rebuild it if he does decide to do that and the noise is still there after he rebuilds it he might not know what it is and it the truck could be better or worse the service manager did not recommend it. I told him when the tech comes I will speak to him about what he might think it is and what my options are. I'm scheduled to drop it off next week

    Well, obviously, the 50 is not your traditional grade. I'd also be interested in seeing what it sheers down to in a standard OCI.

    I think we can get it done. It won't be the same as the previous sample though. As the engine has long since been broken in, has more miles on this oil than in the posted sample, my engine has a small boost related head gasket leak, has a bit of JB weld holding the thrust washers in (might or might not show up in the test), and I use considerably more antiwear additive than most people.

    Would be quite interesting to see those results. Lol.

    My 09 V6 sounds exactly like the OP's truck when its cold out and i start it. Goes away after a few minutes...

    Well that's interesting... first '09 I've heard of.

    Like I said... could it be the oil pumps are fine... just noisy?

    Could also be to thin an oil weight and not nearly enough anti wear additive. Which is the going trend now.

    There's another thing to keep in mind here: in general, it looks like a '13 and newer noise. Acknowledging that it could take more miles/time for a problem to develop, I have not seen one post or heard one thing about it actually being a problem. And as long as the UOAs look on track, I'll tread water with this noise. No one's lost an engine. (Yet.)

    Hope it stays that way.

    Factory Monster Truck Package with reverse gear.
    I think this thread is scaring the shit out of people now hundreds of people are coming forward with this noise is ridiculous. I've had the same ticking noise on my 05' 11' and my current 13' its a normal characteristic of the 4.0L engine. Its funny now everyone saying they have the same sound...well duh its normal!
