Had my driver’s side top hat break while on a road trip. Made it home, but this was shitty to have happen on vacation.

Has anyone else see this before?

I emailed @Icon_Adrian , but it must have gotten lost during the holiday.

It’s a known failure point with Icon that not a lot of people talk about. They changed the design and here’s the new version for comparison:

    4E2BA4F9-213D-4CF0-A2CB-CA6F0812FBBC.jpg

Good luck- I just went through this last month:
I was told over the phone that they “should” be covered under warranty even though I had explicitly told them I purchased my set in 2015. They requested that I email their sales dept with a copy of my receipt. After a lot of back and forth they said no and I was quoted about $200 for replacements parts (top hats, misalignment spacers, and shipping).

Damnit! If they changed the design, they know it was a problem! That’s shitty.

That's crazy. I've seen the shock tower break before the tophat before.

They have a history of quietly changing things they know to be a problems and leaving their customers hanging. If you were around when they changed their install instructions due to the reservoir hose fitting interfering with the rear shock tower:

It’s a shame because I was a fan for a long time and was always happy with my setup. Their customer service and how they don’t back their product has me looking at other options. I can’t recommend them to my customers in good faith either.

Damn, I’d be pretty pissed about that too.

I called and talked to someone this morning after not hearing from Adrian, and it was pretty off-putting. Basically they did everything they could to say it was 100% my fault/they don’t have many failures (then why redesign it if it doesn’t fail?)/I must have it installed wrong.

    Interesting.

    1) It’s a common issue
    2) His were overnighted, I was told mine would ship sometime next week.

Next week?! Wtf?! Your design fails and “next week” is the best you can do?

I offered to go by their warehouse and pick up the parts I needed that they said they “don’t do that”. I live 40 min away from them.

Ordered and paid yesterday; hopefully they get here quickly.

This whole situation is enough that I doubt I'll be buying Icon or recommending them in the future.

Fix them. Sell them. Then buy some Kings.

The majority of their staff treats everyone like they’re 6 years old. Don’t think he’s around anymore but years ago there was an icon rep on here that made them slightly tolerable.

I would fix them and sell them as well. even with the reinforcement it is a compromised design. I would look at other brands like bilstien, elka, kings, etc.
