I'm trying to figure out what my best route would be for bigger tires/regear/locker. I'm wondering wether I should just wait and do it all at once or if I should start doing some of it now.

Will bigger tires really make a huge difference or is it the locker that really makes the difference. I'd be going from 31x10's to some 33x12's. I understand what the locker does but I guess I'm just wondering how much of a difference bigger tires make? I could probably do tires and gears within a month but to do the air locker at the same time it would be like 4months down the road.

You running a 32 or 31 right now? I guess you would need to regear for a 33 but 32 might fit the bill for awhile. And locker... Definitely a good investment but prolly best to do with gears.

I'm an idiot, missed the second half of your post. Anyways... I don't have a good answer. If you can wait that would probably be most economical. My vote would be tired and regear first if it isn't too costly to add locker later.

Ah I was trying to respond to your previous post and glad I read this one before I posted haha. That's what I was thinking too.

Gears and tires probably around 1300-1500 and arb air locker would probably run about 1500 after install.

I emailed the SCS guy about some rims but am probably going to hold off on those and invest in things that will actually make a difference on the trails.

Lol hmm I already started pricing it all out.. I also forgot I want a Detriot up front at the same time I do an ARB in the rear so I most likely will just do tires and gears first since the two lockers will probably run me over 2.4k installed.

02 Tacoma, fixed with curse words.
Lockers hands down make a much bigger difference than tires. I would take a Tacoma on street tires locked f/r, or even just rear over an open/open taco on 33's if i had the choice for wheeling. I have been running 255/85's (33.5 x10) for close to 7yrs now with the stock 4.10's and have had no real complaints. I would get a lunchbox locker and leave the gears stock if your only stepping up to 32's or 33's, ARB's are nice but not needed.

Saw you had a 4banger... meh my opinion still stands lol!

Only reason i want a selectable in the rear is because this is my DD and I've hydroplaned a few times. Ive heard that anything over 31's in a 3rz will be pretty brutal on gas mileage and power (i live in a very hilly area and i already have a lot of weight on the truck too) which is why i really want to regear at the same time. Thanks for the opinion I'm reconsidering just doing it all at the same time then.

And of course there is always a set back.. The shanks for the sand paper are like 1/4" and the dremel/grinder only takes up to like 1/8" or 3/16" or somethin.. So now when I go to work tmrw I will grind down the ends to fit in the dremel.. This just shows you should always play around with your new toys at work before you bring them home lol.. Here is a pic of the bit before I grind it down tmrw.

lol so i hit another road block last night.. the fucking chuck literally just fell off the grinder within the first 20 seconds of use.. you'd think it would be a splined connection or something but its just a smooth piece going into the chuck head of the grinder.. i cleaned both surfaces and gorilla glued it really nicely so hopefully ill have something to show for it by tonight.

woot! just got my CBI hood mounts in the mail.. didn't expect them to be powder coated which is a big plus! these things are a lot beefier than they looked in the pictures.

Also i am considering just buying some 33x12.5 general grabbers and not worrying about regearing until i can afford it. Im sure ill be fine for a month or so until i can.

sweet.. set of 4 is priced at 805$ installed. I wonder how much i could get for my used BFG A/T's that i have right now still got a little bit of meat left on em.

Ok so I did end up getting a little bit done on these.. It's taking forever to sand the metal down though, I might look for some kind of grinding tip/cone. I didn't get very far cause I didn't really want to make a bunch of noise at 10:30 but I did something at least. Shoulda taken a before pic..

Didn't really do much at all on this side tho

its nice getting a new package in the mail every other day haha.. more goodies.

the blue tubing is silicon vacuum lines.. i hate looking in my engine bay every couple weeks and having to cut new ends on 90% of all my vacuum lines. The black cable is a coax cable for my CB.. i ordered my uniden like a week ago and they still haven't even billed me/shipped it.. :frusty:

It's official tires have been purchased. Also picked up the last thing I needed for my cb install (coax connector thing). I'm gunna grab my wheels from my truck tmrw and grab my vapor canister at the same time so I can test it.. Hopefully I can install my cv boot and those vac lines tmrw. Did some porting on the exhaust tonight, almost got one of two sides finished.
