Well the rack is on, came out decent. No more clunks or leaks! Only ran into one snag really, the steering knuckle.

i think if I were to do it all over again and I was planning on keeping my IFS for another 5+ years, I would have gone with an OEM rack and a new steering knuckle thing.

I'll get pictures up later and I'll try to do a step by step for it.

Still haven't gotten pics of the rack install up yet, it will happen someday soon.. Just got the front 3rd (5.29's) in the mail from ECGS today. This is going to be the last big mod for a couple of months.

Realized I needed a 12mm hex bit to get the diff out, Sears doesn't open till 10am but I want to try and get started a little earlier.. I'm going to try the bolt with 2 nuts method cause I have a few 12mm bolts/nuts sitting around and if they get ruined no biggie. Better than paying 10$ for a 12mm Allen wrench..

^The bolt with 2x nuts failed miserably lol.. Had to get a 12mm Allen.

Got a good amount of stuff done today.
    -re strapped my tire
-adjusted the steering rack knuckle (I think it's on the correct spline now)
-adjusted king shocks in the rear so they are || instead of / \
    -lowered front coilovers a little
    -reattached front drive shaft
-adjusted boots on cv's so they aren't rubbing anymore

Hopefully I can do the steering weld mod sometime next week..

The resi's are a little too close to each other, it was kinda hard getting em to fit up there

Hopefully it's a little smoother on the road now.

Do you have extended bumps? If not they probably will. From what I remember with the 10" it comes super close but it hits the bump stop first. I'll have to check.

Well if you didn't already order a u bolt flip kit you could grab the all pro u bolt/timbren kit. It seems pretty slick and I would have probably gotten that had I not already gotten a different timbren kit. Would be two birds with one stone.

No problem bro. Btw I love how the rear rides with the shocks ||. Front rides nice now too since I lowered it a bit.

Attempted steering column weld mod today and failed. Couldn't get the column out, it's much different on the 95-97 tacomas. Somehow you need to get that shiny bolt out of there. I'm not even sure how the hell they installed this thing..

That looks like a nightmare. Can you take the assembly out then chip away at it from there? Probably more than you were planning for, but they had to get that sob in there somehow...

That's what I was thinking too.. But I seriously have no idea how to take those bolt ends out, it looks like maybe they were pressed in there but I don't know how to pry them out/get them out. Without taking those out you can't get the outter wing plate off to get to the part that needs to be welded.

    BDN had the same problem

droppig off of a curb it was kind of stiff.. You definitely would feel it. I still feel it now but a lot less. Mine weren't even mounted very far /\ there are three or four settings and it was on the one right before ||.

Gotcha. So it's kinda like that goofy long upper control arm bolt that was inserted BEFORE the body :)

Kinda but you can actually get that bolt out somehow. This thing I have no idea how to take apart, you'd have to see it in person. Maybe I'll show you, it's only 5 little Philips screws. My steering column is defintely completely different at that section compared to the later models.

Well if you end up really not likeing them like /\ you could just get some really big bump stops and go ||.. Loose like all of your up travel though.

Well wheeling at eagle lakes with the tacomaworld crew was nothing short of awesome! It was great finally meeting everyone.

The ARB locker worked great, it was pretty awesome actually using it. The front gears also worked great when I had to use 4wd. All that hard work finally paid off.

Thanks for taking this pic ^ while we were trying to catch up to the group haha @MJonAgs32

Looks like I might be renting one of my parents properties with a GARAGE at the end of this year! That would mean big stuff will be happening to the Tacoma over the next year or so (hopefully).. Gotta start saving.

Can't wait to ditch the IFS
