Torn between leaf springs!! Help!!

    I have Dakars on the truck at the moment. I have the medium weight pack without AAL and I can say they are too soft for my weight. Even with an AAL it would be too soft for my future setup. So I just bought allpro expos. The pack is way beefier. The Dakars do squeak a lot so get used to it I can't say anything yet about them though. Will hopefully have them on in a week or so.

    If your truck is too heavy for Dakars with the AAL, you need something other than a Tacoma. With 500+ pounds in the bed I have no sag. Add my trailer full of forestry debris and I still have rake. I've only seen my truck level once since putting on the new leaf pack. I shouldn't have been on the road without trailer brakes that day.

    I've been loaded down a few times and it's sagged quiet a bit. I almost ride on bumps as it is without the AAL. No way a high clearance w/swingout bumper and rtt added be supported by just an AAL without my truck sagging. My buddy has the same pack but he hits just as tall with 31s I'm on 35s.

    I think all 90yota has in his is a softtopper and a spare tire with an rtt bed rack over it, but no rtt. I would guess it's under 200 pounds total, but maybe his has fatigued over time. Wouldn't be surprised as I think another member or two who had dakars that their leafs got "tired" eventually.

    Without my rtt rack off i gain about inch in height. It's about 100lbs.

    If I was ever soa I think from your experience I would go straight to the all pro pack as man that thing did sag on you pretty fast. Problem is, I think the ratio of Dakar owners to all pro ones are pretty outnumbered so it's hard to find much credible info of comparison.

    Right cuz of the price. I have about 250lbs at all times right now. With HC rear w/swingout and rtt easily add another 300lbs.

    Man those look interesting.. can't really find any reviews about them. Like the adjustability, would probably go with option 2, but could always change...

    I've had Alcans for a bit over a year now and the only issue with them is that I gave them specs for how I planned to be loaded for overlanding instead of how I'm loaded most of the time on the street. They took a couple weeks to settle in and ended up costing more than I had planned for, but they're great springs and the guys at the shop can tweak them to meet some amount of customization. They will ask for a ton of dimensions that I'd have thought a shop that makes custom parts for production trucks would have on hand already (like the dimensions of the stock u-bolts), but they make a top notch product from what I've seen.

    Yeah, I think I've narrowed it down to the darkars, icon rtx, or alcans. Thinking for the price, removing the third leaf down in the darkars, would be the best bet. Can always add it back. Hard to think I would need the hds with just a steel bumper and skids totaling around 230lbs..

    If you want more than 1.5" of lift you will want the HD leaf pack.

    My previous suspension build experience was putting a performance-street setup on a sports car for better road feel and to get rid of the tiny bit of boy roll it had on the stock "sport" set up.

    Wasn't really thinking about how different you want the dynamics for bouncing a truck over ruts and rocks. I told Alcan that I'd be running with 500 lb in the bed (thinking of my full load of camping gear/supplies) and then requested they make the springs 10% stiffer with a 2" lift compared to the stock leaf packs. They're great springs, but have a bit more bounce than I expected, especially with an empty bed and just the soft topper, but that's really on me since I pretty much ordered them that way.

    I am so happy with my OME Daker CS047R leaf packs. I have a shell and load my bed up all the time. I also pull a trailer with no sagging at all.
