    So that's slightly less torque and peak torque at higher RPM than the 2nd gen? Do I have that correct?

    Peak HP RPM getting into rice burner territory at 6000.

    Hmmmm.... Well let's see what that bought for mileage I guess.

    I have been on hold a couple years for this redesign.I guess I hoped for more power and torque at the same RPM.I personally prefer the lower RPM to get the power..Oh well, guess I need to drive one to make my decision.Either way I will be in a 2nd or 3rd gen Tacoma...

    And amazingly the truck will be capable of doing all the same shit the 2nd gen does but with a little better mpg.

    MPG will have to be stellar for me to even consider one now. Gen 2 might make more sense for me now. I won't render my own verdict until we get MPG figures but I am a bit disappointed. Substantially more buzz than the Colorado/Canyon. Guess this is the new norm for mid-size trucks.

    :anonymous::facepalm::popcorn: 5 less lb ft for 34 more hp, I think not. In my opinion, I want power off the line, not speed up top. + the 3.5 is gonna sound like any other 3.5, fast revs with little grunt. This is a manly truck, not a kids toy.

    I'm not sure why anyone in surprised by these numbers. Torque largely tracks displacement, this engine is notably smaller than the 4.0 so the fact that is has almost as much torque while running an Atkinson design is very reasonable. Keep in mind the 3rd gen also has 6 gears instead of 5, to help make up for lost torque. Don't blame Toyota, the fuel economy requirements are being imposed by the CAFE 2025 standards. Trucks typically have a 10 year production run, so this truck will need to meet the strict future fuel economy requirements.

    That said, I bought a supercharged 4.0 because I knew there would be no comparison to the 3.5.

    What does it mean when it says "2 Speed & Electronically Controlled Transfer Case Limited Slip Differential"? Has the Transfer case always had an LSD? I thought it was locked front to rear?
