    Ha!

I am guessing the mpg might be alright, since they ditched the low rider 5 lug, must be fairly confident...because those 5 lugs see easy over 25...and nips at the 30 mpg mark, if you drive them conservatively.

Just for your information you stop calculating F=MA without considering friction losses once you get out of highschool, which you clearly never have. My P Ag, CCA, B Sc, and other accreditations say I did a little more than went to school :D. Over and out.

2 mpg is over a10% improvement. thats significant. Thats 42 extra miles out of a full tank, or here in utah, a savings of $11.20 **per tank**. I fill up once every week, so 44/mo. thats an extra tank and a half of gas every six weeks. It adds up. Tweaks and tunes to improve 2mpg here and there over the course of a couple of generations of motors also adds up. In 11 years, I have no doubt at all that we'll be watching a whole new gen of tacoma owners saying "21mpg could be better!." I completely agree that that the tune would help a LOT. But that goes back to my point of blaming the motor, not aerodynamics.

    Drop it tool bag.

Diesel = 3-5K markup which is hard to cover with fuel savings. Not to mention the complexity of the emissions system.

@SwollenGoat and I have actually had some really great conversations over this. Versus your verbal diarrhea jumping all over the place.

    Bye.

Here in the Land of the Potato, diesel is cheaper than mid-grade/high test...and has been over the last year.

I am going to take a hard look at the oil burner Collie when it comes out.

Not really a car guy, but the only car I am interested in is a Suby Forestor...hell, a pimped out version (at $34K) those are just as much as mid size truck. Can't do as nearly has much in that thing, as I can in a truck.

Diesel here is only marginally more expensive than Premium. But even with that, there are plenty restaurants that will give free used frying oil to substitute diesel.
    Can't get cheaper than free.

Pig rich. What else do you want? It chugs fuel and blows it out the tailpipe in a nonefficient manner. If they fixed the tune and actually were able to run it so it performed as well their engine i actually capable of I think you would manage to squeeze not only more power because you are finally getting the air/fuel ratios correct but you would also get more power out of it due to the corrections.

This thread is not a trainwreck BTW. This is a trainwreck:

Totally agree here. Almost all vehicles are tuned a bit rich as its safer. They all leave a bit of power and fuel efficiency on the table. Really wish a retune was an easily accessible option for me and my 2015.

Currently here, Diesel cheaper than premium & mid grade.

See couple places where it is even cheaper than regular! Never thought I would see that day again!

Yeah the computer systems are locked down tight on Toytota's. I wish they were a little more accessible as well. Easy like they are on GM and Ford's.
