    I just love watching those guys race. I don't care which surface. It was absolutely intense! Hopefully they come back to Houston, with the Grand Prix. :D. I plan to tags a few pointers from their steering setups. That stuff is stout. Since mine has so much travel, but is currently near the compressed limit, i really need to upgrade to something similar.

    Fortunately for you, it was only the time it took to get through 56 pages. For me, it has been quite stressful, despite the rewards. Had I not been able to get my current spare engine running well, and have gotten some track time in, it would have really tested my fortitude. Those few times a year have been absolutely amazing though. To be able to Do what I am building it for. Plus getting the seat time prior to having the increased power, gives me the chance to better tune in my driving skills and see what handling aspects can be improved. MSR is just one step. Next will be some additional tracks. ;)

    Not to leave you without an answer, Darton should have the engine buttoned up as of yesterday. Waiting on a call back about shipping. The owner however has been a bit under the weather lately, and been getting a lot of medical attention this past week. Hopefully he is all better now and things can keep moving along with my engine.

    Due to a recent discussion about BOV's, here is a good example of it and how it affect the performance when it happens. It is completely audible at the shift from 1st - 2nd, when the truck takes off after the u-turn. 50 second mark.

    That turbo and BOV setup had a lot of compressor surge events. Ended up making a strange hissing like sound and would not boost properly. Wouldn't make more than 4 psi. Even after the BOV was replaced, it helped but the damage had already been done.

    The upgraded turbo had a ported should. I purposely purchased that shroud to specifically negate any possible effects of compressor surge, which the BOV couldn't handle. Of course, ported shrouds on turbos were engineered specifically to reduce the effects of compressor surge as well.

    Newest turbo, Borg Warner 9180, has both a ported shroud, and an integrated BOV. To prevent damaging effects of compressor surge. It was engineered that way, to maintain years of reliability.

    After speaking with an engineer who was on the designing team of the EFR line of turbos, I learned that the best placement for a BOV, is as close to the turbo as possible. Which totally makes sense, as the path of least resistance is the path the air with take.

    It might be over at this point, but now my turbo setup has two BOV's. Was there any problem or delay making boost? Ask those whom have ridden with me, while the turbo was on.

    A BOV, blow off valve, is simple a pressure release valve. As you up the boost, above atmospheric pressure, in the charge pipes, then cut off flow, that pressure has to go somewhere. If it cannot go through the throttle body into the engine, it will reverberate back to the turbo. Plain and simple. 4-5 psi, the turbo might not care. 8 + psi, it will. 8, is what I was running in the video. 15, 20, 30, 60 psi. .....bet your ass there will be some damage soon enough without a BOV.

    Just ordered this bad boy.

    Time to swap it out when the built engine is getting installed. The McLeod TOB is very poorly designed, in hind sight. Was the only best choice at the time though. The flat face bearing on the McLeod, doesnt have any seals to keep the grease in it, and it is made in China. :/

    This Tilton racing Hydraulic release beaing has a similar flat face bearing. It is sealed, and made by a Japanese manufacturer. Cannot remember the name of them, but I will be posting pictures once it arrives. This adapter kit for the T56, unofficialy, was born from the complaints of people with my similar McLeod TOB. This one also just recently hit the market.

    Engine update, is that it is all crated up, and the other spare parts are packaged as well. Just waiting on the invoice for shipping, once that is sorted out, and the rest left on the tab.
