I've been running this serpentine belt for a couple of weeks now. Don't even notice it there. Therefore, it works great. Lucario Runner has been running his for about a month without issue as well. This is now THE Gates Racing serpentine belt for the 1GR. Until they come out with a 7 rib.

One more Racing part added to the list. Lol.

From the color combos on your engine, I going to take quite a big step and say that you are a function over form kind of person...

    :spy:

Sometimes, it is just what you have to deal with due to product availability as well. :/

Case in point with the belt. The reflect a gold does match the oil cooler fittings though. :D

I wanted to run the Starlite hose, which he has for his oil cooler hoses, as my fuel line hose. However, the new fuel formula's vapour seeps through that hose, and thus causes a huge gas leak smell. So instead of being able to use the hose that blends with the aftermarket fuel rail, and upper intake plenum, I have had to switch to steel fittings and PTFE lined hose with a stainless outer braid. Sigh. Works for all fuels and brake fluid, but matches only itself. :pout:

You'd be correct. Don't worry I take it as a compliment.

One of my coworkers said that the colors clash. I tell him this is a race truck, not a brosif mobile. Lol. Well get ready as ethanol concentration is going up.
Thanks. I'm trying to to get carbon fiber valve covers so it'll look a little more proper and get rid of some weight. Trick is to find someone that is willing to make one or two sets not 10-15.

Thus why I'm getting the parts which can all handle it. To minimize future problems. Just need a few more fittings and it'll be time to install the new pump, new fuel filter, fuel lines, and new FPR.

I thought it actually costs them a bunch of money to put ethanol in our fuel? Is adding the ethanol solely a ploy to try to silence the racecar hating hippies?

I've never actually looked into it, but I thought it was to stretch the gas out farther so they could lower prices. I know around here you have to spend extra to get ethanol free fuel, but maybe that is just a dumb ploy like grass fed beef and gluten free sheet metal.

I was also under the impression that higher ethanol content equals more power (albeit worse fuel economy) but again never looked into it in depth.

The way i understand is that it should be either e85-alcohol or no ethanol at all. My mowers get eat to shit by all this ethanol. I haven't found ethanol free in my area....well i have...its just 94 octane and its over $11 a gallon :(

I see them adding ethanol as a form of "watering down" our gas to sell less of it and make more money. Look at the prices of crude oil(per barrel)....they have been as low as what they were when gas was in the low $2.xx and does that reflect in the prices? Hell no. These oil companies are SWIMMING in the doe because they know people will just mindlessly pay it and the government will tax it because they know we'll pay it. :(

Sorry to ruin the racetruck talk

There are several issues with it that I don't like, mainly the inconsistency of the fuel. You would think it'll be 90% gasoline and 10% ethanol or in the case of e85 it'll be 85% ethanol and 15% gas right? Nope. That posted percentage doesn’t refer to pure ethanol, but to denatured fuel to make it fall within a curtain tax bracket to avoid the imposition of beverage alcohol tax. So at best your maximum full e85 is around 80-83%. The minimum however is a joke. As of 2012 e85 purchased from the pump could have an ethanol content as low as 51% and still be within spec by government regulation. Hence the reason why alot of people who run e85 to make power use this.
    http://www.zeitronix.com/Products/ECA/ECA.shtml
Another issue is that ethanol is hygroscopic. meaning it loves to absorb water, even more so in humid areas, and guess what happens when water is introduced to your fuel system? your not gonna have a fun time. There are nice things about the fuel but it is not without its draw backs. As with the pricing of it, you can thank you're local farmer, lobbyist, and politician. I can go on at the discretion of torspd.

I've heard of people pumping straight water into their engine at a gas pump when they thought they were getting normal fuel....simply because the tank was low and the water that was attracted by the ethanol simply was at the right level in the underground tank....to be what came up through the pump.

It truly is a total shit show.

I don't know that i'd run e85 for performance, i guess people do because its cheaper? :notsure:

....110 and nitro smell soooooo good. :D

Good, that's how it was intended. Form vs. function is not a point but a whole bunch of grey area, and we all fall at different points.

I like y'awl function guys cause you prove alot of capability since your not wasting too much time making it pretty.

As for the comments on ethanol, without going political,,, ethanol has less energy content then gas, which is why mpg goes down, but it has a higher octane, which is why racers/blown people like it as they can run more timing. It's definitely a water magnet though, and can mess up fuel systems that were not engineered to handle that much alchohol.

It's added to gas as an oxygenate to help with emissions. They had to replace the older MTBE oxygenate as they found out it was dangerous for mice and pregnant women, who live in California (OK, OK, mostly non-political...).

Pssshhhh.....ethanol......pssssshhhhh. Europe did it right and said "NO".

Aside from RaceTruck talk, what we really need to do is make a catalyst to convert water to Hydrogen. Aside from my lack of knowledge on how much "power" you can make with it, I know it can be used to cruise. With great increases in fuel economy.

    Need to do a write-up on that^^^!

Annnnnnnd finished up the install on my Tanabe Oil pressure gauge. Sexy!

Build is coming along good as of late, can't wait to see end result! Also, hydrogen would be legit if like you side would could extract hydrogen out of water faster.

If u mix sodium hydroxide with water and drop aluminum into u will wind up with more hydrogen than u now what do with, NO SMOKING and keep in mind that hydrogen is 20x lighter than ambient air so if not in a well ventilated area it will pool in the ceiling. Also its an exothermic reaction and the hotter it gets the more it reacts and the more it reacts the hotter it gets and so on and so on.
