    Last year, when I pulled Frankenblock, to install the stroker engine, I found that it had chewed up and spit out its thrust bearings. Then used the #2 main cap as the thrust washer. Defying convention and not destroying itself, I drove it for many miles and two races like that before I found the issue. Upon that finding, the easiest solution was to clean up the damage to the main cap and JB Weld it back together. Which I did. Here are the old pictures.

    Well I am happy to report, that after roughly another year of driving, the JB Welded thrust washer is still perfectly fine. :woot:

    I also found the source of the lost compression. At least the first suspicion of the head gasket having a problem. There is a carbon deposit at the top of the cylinder where the deck and head gasket meet. I still need to pull the piston and inspect it to see if there is anything wrong with the rings or ring lands.

    Lesson learned here is to clearly instruct those using your torque wrench, on how to properly use it so that they do not damage it.

    Man you got some patience. Also curious if the ringlands went out. Cracked ringlands seems to be the death of every turbo motor with low compression.

    Sometimes during reflection, I am shocked at my own patience... Determination unwavering.

    From what I saw of the cylinder, which wasn't that thorough as it was late, looking at it where the piston is from the deck and underneath, the scoring looked the same as it did during last assembly. Didn't want to rotate the crank and risk valve damage on. Valve cover was on, couldn't see the lobes, driver side disassembly was primary objective, and time was short. A more thorough examine will happen later this week, when I have time to pull the piston. I'm still 50/50 that there might be ring land damage as well though. With what was visible, it currently doesn't seem to be. That would be a huge relief.

    Ring lands are the primary failure on these engine though, with boost. If the tune is spot on, but the RPM limit is raised, then it shifts to the rods.

    With this engine, I told them to lower the rpm back to stock. Don't need any added stresses. Actually, I truly believe that the tuning took place with the head gasket leak. That means it was already down on power and made those #'s. Going to have to re-dyno it once back together. :D
