Why not install it yourself? I also thought that if they install it, then it gets rolled into the rest of the powertrain warranty. That is if you still have one?

Yup. Definitely forgot about that....

So much struggle. Lol. Good news is though, that I just received a new to me set of heads. I've got my own parts department practically. lol.

Other good news is that the machine shop is in full swing on my blocks. As well as the machine shop said that making the 2JZ heads work with for main studs will not be a problem.

 

Awesome! You gonna build the heads too I'm assuming? I'm tryin to part out the heads/cams that i have. Didn't really put it in the for sale section yet.

 

Both built engines have some level of work done to them. The stroker's heads have the full works done.

For the stock engine, no, not building them.

 

I'm starting to think I might have to do it myself, especially with all the mods I'm throwing on...But If I'm picking up a new 2015 Tacoma, i wanted everything covered under warranty for as long as possible, but I might just be fooling myself on that one. You are correct though, per TRD Toyota, if installed at a dealer You get a 2 year Powertrain extended warranty on it OR the remainder of your existing Powertrain warranty, whichever is longer. If you install yourself you have 12 months from time of purchase. The dealer I just talked to refuses to warranty because i didn't buy from them. I bought from Toyota of Dallas seeing as how they were the cheapest on the market, so this other dealer is going to lose my business because they want me to buy the SC and install with them for a warranty. Oh well, I'm sure there's a dealer somewhere around that will be cool with it.

 

Toyota is Toyota. Pretty sure they have to honor that which is written by Toyota. That is just ridiculous.

 

I already told the sales gal that it was a deal breaker for me, I would not be buying a truck if they won't install the charger with a warranty. If they want my 35k, they'll have to accept I'm not gonna spend another 4k with them that I already spent elsewhere. If that's a problem, there are like 20 dealerships in a 100 mile area around me, I bet one of them will deal

So, st what point should I start worrying about bigger fuel injectors and/or 7th injector?

 

You don't need larger injectors (besides the TRD ones obviously) unless you plan on upgrading the ECU.. Which you would have to do if you did upgrade the injectors.

Correct me if I'm wrong here guys. Trying to test what I've learned..

 

Any thoughts on the ucon-ems from urd? Precision 6266 is coming in soon. And I have 3'' and 4'' stainless on the way for the exhaust and boost tubing.

 

Pretty much correct. The injectors (just like the fuel pump) need to be sized to match the expected HP goals. If you start upping the boost, you need to plan on having those componts match the crank hp. Not whp. I always go for a larger size than necessary. Percentage wise, so that I do not have to worry about maxing out the duty cycle of the injectors. Their is a really good calculator of www.rceng.com

As an example, my current Injector Dynamics ID1300 cc injectors are somewhere around 40% duty cycle at my current engine power,which equates to ~400 whp. Without doing the math right now, it should still be 80% when I am near the goal of 800whp.

There has only been one person that I am aware of to use a UCON on a turbo setup. Urd has the files and did a lot of back and forth datalogging. His truck made some serious power. Despite him thrashing on it regularly, it did run quite well.

"Torspd" yes. "Zip Tie" .......others might. If you do a "Torspd", I have a template of sorts ready.

My apologies as well. I still have not mated engine to truck. Oil pan needs to be installed still. Hopefully this weekend.


I also have been in detailed discussions with the machine shop about my engines. There have been a few details to over come. Including one meaning new pistons are necessary for Goldylocks. That being said though, I am going to have them over bore that engine to .090" over. Which will effectively make it a 4.2 liter.

 

No minimum order at this point buddy. I'd like to fill up at least the full width of the vinyl though. So probably 10-20.

 

And no worries about the delay. I have a second batch of samples coming in with some improvements
