    I love the ground breaking stuff going on here but at what point do you say enough and do a motor swap? Not at all a downplay to your build because I love problem solving and making it work, just curious what your drive is and why you've chosen to really push the 1gr into this territory? Is it because a 2jz or ls would be typical or easy (per say)?

    Or just because TACOMA!!!!!!?

    Only other ones that I can remember right now are Crower (reminds) and Web Camshafts. Someone else mentioned another place some time ago, but it eludes me.

    Pretty sure that LC Engineering, out of Arizona, uses Web Camshafts. From my experience, they perform top notch work, building engines. LC Engineering that is.

    I will be able to comment on the quality of the work that my current machine shop is doing, once I get my engines back. :thumbsup:

    No big news to update with yet. Engine is installed, and accessories are bolted back on. Went through the process of upgrading the recently upgraded clutch line (in the cab) from a -3 AN to a -4 AN. That way it will all be the same size the whole way through. That line is such a pain in the ass to replace. Still need a stubby 9/16 wrench to finish tightening everything.

    Installed the radiator with the new lower HPS radiator hose. (Which is actually normally the top hose #everythingiscustom) When it was time to install the upper hose with the Killer Glass, I realized that I ordered the wrong size diameter Gates Powergrip hose clamps. The kind which are essentially heat shrink for the radiator hoses. New ones will arrive on Wednesday.

    The HPS hoses are of very nice silicone construction, amd come with all new hose clamps. They were of a better design as well from the older ones which were used.

    Soon enough the transmission will be back in and then on to the new punch list of mods prior to the July 4th MSR track day. That is no small list either.

    Also, since the stroker engine machining is under way, it was time to order a new set of 1GR head studs.

    http://m.summitracing.com/parts/arp-atp61002lub. The picture is misleading.

    According to LC Engineering, after quite a bit of back and forth conversation, they were able to source a part number from ARP for a similarly sized stud to the one they offered for the 1GR, but a little stronger. Stronger, as being said by ARP.

    I would like to point out how lean the AFR's are.... Even still, it is making very good power for such simple mods.

    Compared to another member's who's more stock setup was barely over 260 whp.

    I will also throw out there that there will be some slight differences in the two dynos, as well. Within a small margin. However, both exhausts are different sizes, as well as the headers/pulley upgrades.

    Add into the fact that one is an XRunner and the other is a 4x4 with some added weight, and the differences in power will be noticed even further than what the graphs show. Due to power to weight ratios.

    I have never had the TRD s/c, but I have always heard that, "it really wakes the truck up," or "this is how it should have come." Bring on the added boost I say!

    There is a guy on XRU with a 12+ 4x4. He has the 2.55 pulley, NST pulley, Tuned Unichip, meth injection, controller for that extra injector, as well as a few more mods. Out in Cali as well. I would really like to see his truck's dyno!

    I've been looking into this issue lately because I have failing OE cats and I am so pissed that the only legal solution in CA is to pay $1100 for a new OE header...or an equally ridiculous sum for an OE y pipe...and to add injury to insult we are not allowed to buy anything emissions related in a junkyard in CA. There is still not a single aftermarket replacement header or cat listed on the CARB site for our 4.0 trucks either. I found out that CA, NV and AZ DMV's are linked so the only way to pull of of out of state registration is to go for Oregon but you have to read up on what they require for residency etc and understand that if you get pulled over in CA with out of state plates and registration but a CA license you will get a ticket for that too...

    Yea, anything I've even tentively researched concerning carb and smog just says I'm screwed when it comes to getting smoged if it's not stock. I'm 99% leaning towards shorties to maintain front cats, and just swap in my stock y pipe and intake just to smog.

    On the other hand, I'm sure I can find a place in town that will "look the other way" for some extra bucks. The problem is finding that place I guess. Jeez such a hassle living in Cali lol. I just want to boost and have fun lol

    I'll be that guy someday soon. Wifely permission to start truck shopping in August, found a guy on here that works in the service department of a dealer nearby and said the SC install with warranty shouldn't be an issue.

    Hoping to clear at least 300 rwhp

    My only issue now is- manual or automatic. I'm leaning severely towards automatic with a VB upgrade....but there's a couple manuals in the area for sale at like $4k-$5k less than autos. Wondering if it's worth it or not. I'm thinking auto just because offroad it's soooooo much easier

    So the one sold by summit is stronger and cheaper? That's good find right there. Its funny cause I'm thinking of doing the 1gr again and will probably shoehorn the ls1 into a g35 instead. Too many projects lol.

    Sometimes I wish I had another project to take my mind off of this one. Lol. Call it a GLS. ;)

    Correct, these were stated as the stronger studs. When I ordered them, it was stated that they'd ship around the 6th of July. I will compare them to the current ones to make sure they will fit properly. Then report back.

    Originally when I received that part number, and looked the studs up, the price was about $23 each. This is clearly better at $14 each. Since I already have nuts and washers, I have
    no additional expense.
